Airline Summary

The fifth-largest airline in the United States, Seattle-based Alaska Airlines (IATA: AS; ICAO: ASA) flies to more than 100 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada. As the name implies, it's a major carrier in the state of Alaska, flying to about 20 large and small destinations throughout the state. However, the airline has a major presence serving destination on the West Coast of the United States of America. The airline has five hubs: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Portland International Airport (PDX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA), and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Aircraft operate with two classes of service: First Class and Main Cabin (Economy Class). Premium Class in the Main Cabin, offering additional legroom and priority boarding, is being added to aircraft. Passengers flying in First Class have access to the airline's Alaska Lounge with locations 7 airports. On 25 April 2018, Alaska Airlines and Virgin America merged. The combined airline is known as Alaska Airlines. The combined fleet consists of Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Embraer aircraft.

They force you to check in your carry on. If you ask why you’re being forced, they’ll say you’re one of the cheap tickets so they can force you. It’s easily the most disgusting, classist airlines I ever flew. When I entered the flight, I saw cabin luggage spaces absolutely empty. This is clearly a ruse and a way to torture economy travelers. I’m absolutely appalled by how the desk attendants were casually racist and classist in sizing me up and asking me how much I paid for my ticket and that it must’ve been cheap!

Alaska airlines ripped me off for $1500.00 I had reservation and had to change them because of Cancer diagnosis. I paid 300.00 to change to an open ticket. The agent didn’t put it into system correctly and they say I used the tickets. I did not . They were rude! Not helpful at all. They scammed me out of 1500.00 you should be ashamed Alaska airlines. I will never use them again and tell everyone I know also that they don’t care at all about their customers. Sham on you Alaska Airlines

Props to the crew from LAX that made our flight so much fun on March 12! Our trip to Cabo was to celebrate my husband's retirement and the crew of flight 1448 celebrated with us. My husband got his wings! He loves them! Thank you for the mention, the card, the wings, the joy along with us goes to Marra, Vee, Angela and Irene. Great trip let's do it again.

I used to fly Alaska Air quite frequently when we lived in the PNW. I hastily booked a flight to visit a friend that was having major surgery and selected the “saver fare” for almost $600. After booking I realized that I departed from DFW (where my car would be parked) and arrived at DAL. I called the 800# and explained my dilemma where I was met with a very curt and judgmental “there’s nothing I can do because you booked the “saver fare”. Fine, at this point I accepted this response. Then I arrived at my gate and in SEA and asked the rep if I could pls be assigned a seat. She pulled up my reservation and to her disdain, reminded me that I booked the “saver fare” and I would have to come back in 30 minutes to be assigned a seat. Mind you that’s when boarding was to begin and no other passengers were at the counter. I also was not asking for a “special” seat just ANY seat!! So I sat directly in front of her and waited awkwardly while she pretended to work. While I was on my trip, my son & husband got sick - so instead of sitting at the airport for 3 hours to eventually fly to the wrong airport, I went to the Alaskan Customers Service desk where a rep was trying to help me catch an earlier flight to the correct airport. When low and behold the rep sitting next to her decided to hover over and interfere. She started shaking her head “no” and rolling her eyes - then interrupted and said “because you booked the “saver fare” there’s nothing we can do to help you”. I was even willing to pay the difference. But that’s not an option. I happened to walk by the gate of the earlier flight, they were at the end of boarding and still had plenty of main cabin seats available. I pleaded with the rep if she would pls be willing to help and allow me to fly stand by on this flight (where there were still plenty of seats). I bet you can guess her response - yep! “SAVER FARE” and a look of “go away peasant”. As tears began to form in my eyes, I walked away and swore to NEVER fly Alaskan again. Never before have I ever been treated so poorly because of the fare I booked. I wouldn’t even be writing this review if the reps would have been the slightest bit compassionate, understanding or respectful (even if it was still a “no”)…kindness goes a long way. You’d think that with doors flying off during flights they would be slightly more customer focused. Nope - not Alaskan, not ever.

My experience on Alaska Airlines was one of the worst flight experiences I ever had! When I arrived at the gate my flight was delayed for unknown reasons, no announcement just waiting blindly. Then when I arrived on the plain, they had to escort to people off the plane for drinking but there is a bar directly across from the gate! Then they announced They were having mechanical issues which delayed us more! Then immediately after the flight attendant had a medical emergency, forcing the pilot to deboard the plane! After about twenty minutes a new attendant was found. To add insult to injury we were then forced into a layover in Seattle in order to switch crews again! A six hour non stop flight turned into a 11 hour flight with a layover . This was my first and last Alaskan airline flight!
