Miyajima

10 Nov 2009

Osaka-Kyoto-Nara is probably the most popular places to visit in Japan but why not including Hiroshima on your holiday destination. HIroshima offers a lots of nice places to visit and eat. To get to Miyajima-guchi station, it takes only 25minutes by local train from JR Hiroshima station. You will find a boat station easily too(basically straight a head - 5minutes... more

If you wish to spoil yourself in Japan while you are on a holiday, this is it !! Staffs are so helpful and kind. They will even pick you up from Miyajima if you call them in advance. It is just so peaceful, quiet and special. I recommend a room called " ANNE ANNE" if you are not familiar with... more

There was some confusion about our reservation and about getting picked up at the ferry - which was ultimately sorted out. The staff were very strict and not very welcoming - about shoes, where we could put our bags and when, where we could put our rain coats and umbrellas, etc. The price was a bit high, compared to similar... more

We spent one night in this charming hotel and we've enjoyed ourselves very much. The room was spacious,( Japanese style and it was big even in western terms) and clean, the food was great and the owner and her son were very gracious and made us feel very welcome under their roof. The location is great - it's just across... more

Location - Miyajima is fantastic, one of the highlights of our trip to Japan, highly recommend staying overnight. - Map on website is misleading, it's directly opposite the JR pier, don't walk left up towards the school. - Being directly opposite the pier was an awful location considering Miyajima is tiny, you can have a hotel/ryokan almost anywhere on this... more

I absolutely loved this place. The location was about 10 mins walk (easy) uphill from the main shrine in Miyajima, however on arrival if you call the ryokan they will pick you up (note it takes longer to drive to the ryokan than to walk, but you should not try to take your bags up to the ryokan yourself due... more

We truly enjoyed the Ropeway! Didn't expect much but found at the top a fabulous view and had the opportunity to see wild monkeys. We got some great closeup shots of the monkeys. Saw a new mother monkey taking care of her young. The view there was breathtaking and you could see many islands and all of Miyajima below. Miyajima... more

We spent a night in Miyajima during our trip to Japan. I highly recommend an overnight. It is absolutely lovely walking down to look at the shrine at night. You can also be among the first to ride up the ropeway for views from the top of the mt. Definitely ride the ropeway up and walk down. Be sure to... more

Backpackers Miyajima

This motel is very clean! Incredible, friendly English-speaking staffs! The setting of the motel allows you to interact with other travellers easily (ie. common area/game room, etc), and yet, you don't have to sacrifice your own privacy for this! It is just a ferry away from Miyajima. more

Wow! We loved Miyajima!! We stayed at the ryokan Momiji-so. (Which is exactly where we would stay again. It was awesome.) The ropeway to the top of the mountain was just a few minutes walk from our ryokan. The ropeway offered great views of the island and Hiroshima. Once we were at the top we realized that someone must have... more

I always use Tripadvisor when planning our trips, but this time... I was wrong. We reserved this room about 6 months in advance and got a confirmation quite instantly. About a month before going there, I mailed them again to check if all was still okay (I remembered a previous review stating that reservation 'got lost'), but did not get... more

Large lovely room with super clean and beautiful, large bathroom. Excellent staff (and they all speak fantastic English). Picked us up, allowed us to drop off our luggage before check-in, free drink upon arrival, GORGEOUS onsen (the women's looks onto a manmade waterfall with plants and is all stone tiled), located on the water just ~100 meters to the 'floating... more

Stayed for one night at Momiji-so but wish it had been longer. The location is picture perfect, surrounded by acers and pine trees with deer wandering freely by. Our room overlooked the koi carp pond and offered a wonderfully relaxing antidote to sightseeing. The food was brilliant - not being a family of fish lovers, the owner had prepared a... more

We really enjoyed our stay here!!! We only wish that we could have stayed at least one more night. Granny and her son and daughter-in-law were great hosts. They provided us with flashlights to use at night to go see the tori gate. They picked us up and dropped us back off at the ferry. We stayed in 2 rooms... more

We stayed here in early July. The hostess Shinto was simply the loveliest person. She was very friendly and hospitable, and also spoke good English. We had a room with views of the ferry terminal and water. Our room was tidy and neat, we were also given fresh lilies which was a nice touch. This ryokan is worth considering if... more

We decided to splurge one night on our trip to Japan to stay in a traditional Japanese Ryokan....it was definitely worth it! The reviews on this site were completely accurate. Momiji-so was in a beautiful location right in the middle of the national park on Miyajima island. The rooms were spotless and the staff were both friendly and helpful. When... more

My husband (who is Japanese) and I stayed here last November when we visited Miyajima, and we thought it was lovely. It is very reasonably priced, the food was delicious, and as is typical at Japanese Inn there was way too much. Knowing that we got one of the cheapest dinners (which means less food), and still. I finished everything... more

We stayed 3 nights over Easter, the Inn is about 20 minutes walk from the pier directly behind the [closed] aquarium, though a beautiful walk passing temples, shrine, shops [if youwant] and O Torii. The owner spoke only a few words of English but we sort of got by, there is a restraurant downstairs which was never open, the family... more

I stayed at Iwaso with my husband at the tail end of a 3-week trip in Japan. In terms of value for money, it is difficult to say. While I am happy to have stayed here, it is extremely expensive. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Rooms: The rooms are very large. We had a standard... more
