When my sister and I drove up to Gourmet Gardens, honestly, we said, "This can't be it". But it was it. A very humble building with Christmas lights hung loosely from the eaves of the porch. We had reservations so we sat down. The food was great. The surroundings soft and comforting. No frills, nothing slick here. I loved it.... more

We went to Montserrat for what it does NOT have; crowds, traffic lights, neon signs, or elevators. Montserrat is described as "the way the Caribbean used to be." The volcano ensures that. The volcano has minimized the amount of hotels and tourist villas, only about 300 rooms are available on the island. Our Bunkum Bay Beach House proprietor met us... more
