As the sign states on their rooftop Gypsy's is "THE PLACE TO BE IN CHURCHILL." Our tour group operator Churchill Nature Tours had all of our meals while in Churchill taken care of by Gypsy's. When we were "in town" our breakfasts and dinners were at Gypsy's. Our tundra buggy tour picnic lunches were prepared by them as well. Churchill... more

For our three nights in Churchill, the Aurora Inn served as our home away from home. Admittedly, I was a bit curious about the condition of a motel property that is so far from the rest of civilization, and in a town without a lot of options. I was pleasantly surprised as the comfort and amenities provided the guests. Churchill... more

Stayed here for 3 nights while on a tour to see the Polar Bears just outside of Churchill. Likes - Good water pressure in the shower - Good size rooms - Free WIFI - Clean Dislikes - Very dated property that could do with a make-over - Small single beds Overall this is a decent, clean motel with friendly staff.... more

No-one goes to Churchill for 5 star accommodation, just to see the bears and whales.Bearing all this in mind,Michelle and Sheldon offer a warm, relaxing, cosy, spotlessly clean and above all helpful and knowledgeable stay at the Bear Country Inn. The morning coffee and muffins were wonderful for those of us jet lagged and ready to be up and off at 6am.We would definitely... more

My wife and I just returned from a five-day trip to Churchill with Quest Nature Tours to see the polar bears. The trip featured accomodations were at the CNSC, and they were likely the worst we have ever experienced. Our introduction to the centre came at the Churchill airport, where we were informed that an outbreak of flu/stomach virus was... more

We stayed at the Aurora Inn whilst on an organised trip to Churchill and was very impressed with the accommodation. We thought we were going to stay in a room and actually received a suite which consisted of a large lounge/diner/kitchen and an upstairs bedroom and bathroom. It had a huge plasma television in the lounge another tv in the... more

Staying with Blue Sky really made my trip to Churchill the best it could be. The owners, Jenafor and Gerald, go out of their way as ambassadors to the community. They'll take you for a drive and show you around town and out into the surrounding tundra . . . Gerald also runs a Blue Sky Expeditions, a dogsled outfit,... more

Lazy Bear Lodge

very nice people...very helpful. A complete package-no need to worry about anything else. They take care of airfare, lodging, meals, transportation, guides, you name it. Book soon, for you might not be able to easily see polar bears once the ice recedes. Churchill is the closest place to see them easily. more

Gypsy's Bakery and Restaurant

I went to Churchill, Manitoba summer of 2008 and I had a lot of fun. Gypsy's Bakery and Restauraunt had great baked goods (doughnuts, chocolate eclaires, apple fritters, etc.) and great food as well. I went there multiple times over my one week trip to get more pastries and I went there a couple times to eat. They had very... more

We stayed in Churchill for 7 nights; we took the train so we figured that we might as well make it worth the trip. We stayed at the Iceberg Inn and we were very impressed by the cleanliness and the affordability of the place. Dick Hunter, the hotel owner, has been living in Churchill for over 25 years. He was... more

If you like wildlife then this is a must see place. You can see Polar Bears, Arctic Fox, Arctic Hare, Arctic Owl, Caribou, Beluga Whales, Birds, Huskie, Fantastic scenery, Arora Borealis and much more. Churchill is a very small town far from any where on the edge of the the Hudson Bay where you can enjoy on a Holiday of... more

My wife and I visited the Lazy Bear Lodge during the tourist off season in June. The hotel shuttle bus that was supposed to meet our 6AM train arrival in Churchill never appeared. The local taxi driver at the station took us over to the Lodge, but it was totally locked up. So the driver deposited us at the town... more

We just returned from a week at the Seal River Heritage Lodge where we got in zodiac boats and swam with Beluga whales, saw polar bears from a safe distance out in the wild and then spent our last day in Churchill. Do not miss visiting the Eskimo Museum in Churchill. The town is small and you can easily walk... more

The long counter catches your attention when you walk in the door. Gleaming cases of pastries call to you. A small take-away deli section tempts with imported cheeses, olives and sliced meats. The seating at Gypsy's is communal with long tables all pushed together, ...find a seat where you can. We sat with some mushers and watched what looked good... more

We stayed at the Tundra Inn recently and would highly recommend it. Bob and Pat, the owners greeted us upon arrival, went over a quick map of the town which I carried with me everywhere, and let us check-in even though we arrived at 10 am. The rooms are spic-and-span clean, spacious and comfortable. Our room (and I believe all... more

The little kiosk is tucked into a corner of the Churchill airport and at first glance there is not a lot there. However what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in lovely handcrafted and reasonably priced jewellry. I had done some shopping prior to our departure from Churchill and my favourite souvenir is a pair of earrings purchased... more

We had the opportunity to visit Churchill for a few days at the end of March (2008). During our trip one of the absolute highlights was dogsledding with Bluesky Expeditions. We met the dogs learned how they were harnessed and best of all went mushing! It is incredible to see the eagerness and power that these animals possess to pull... more

The birds were great but the hotel was cold. This hotel should have been my last choice.Churchill is just beginning to capitalize on the interest of birders worldwide in this migratory hotspot. The Lazy Bear lodge was not prepared for what they said was an unusually cold June. And unfortunately they were not prepared to adjust to it either. The... more

We stayed at the lodge on a three night package in October - the lodge is relatively newly built and the rooms which are fairly basic, nevertheless, are clean and warm. Breakfast is included each day and whilst there is not a massive choice, there is something for everyone The tundra trips were enjoyable, although the tundra buggy was much... more
