We have stayed a few times in the Sumburgh Hotel. It is the only hotel near the airport, located on the southernmost tip of the islands. That is the only saving grace of the hotel. We stayed at the Lerwick Hotel for one night. The room was acceptable but overpriced. (only stay there if you can get a discount). The evening meal was the main problem. It was dreadful. The halibut was overcooked and soggy; the beef was tough. The vegetables came from some freezer variety pack. The potatoes were cold and the wine corked.... more
