Wicklow Way Lodge

Everything Susan from London wrote I would have to repeat: the place is great, the owners are super friendly and the Restaurant closeby is superb (though I think it was in Roundwood, not Laragh). I had a lovely room with a balcony - thus spectacular views. We ran out of wine at about 01:00 at night and got another bottle... more

Stayed here many years ago and nothing seems to have changed, except the price. A very expensive place to stay with no hot water in the morning. It's also quaint and peaceful, but whether it's worth it for such a threadbare existence is truly questionable. Staff sometimes unpleasant. Gardens lovely. No-one asked if we wished to reserve a table for... more

Following a few Trip Advisor reviews and viewing their own website we decided to book a week out of season (May 2008) for 5 adults and two infants (both under 2) in one of the 4 bedroom self-catering apartments. The standard of the property we stayed in was average - nothing special. It consisted of 3 bedrooms (one with ensuite)... more

We were really only looking for a restroom on our way through the Wicklow mountains, so we stopped at the visitors center here. We were somehow coralled into a tour, and I am so happy that we were. I am so happy we made time for this. The ruins and the history of St Kevin was great. The tour guide... more

Wicklow Way Lodge

Wicklow Way Lodge is a fabulous bed and breakfast. It has everything one needs for a pleasant stay: clean rooms; good breakfast; friendly host and beautiful surroundings. Marilyn and her son went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We liked the special little touches in the bedrooms: magazines, chocolate biscuits, good quality shower gel and shampoo etc.... more

Grand Hotel Wicklow

The appearance may be grand, but the stay wasn't..... Where do I start....this was the dirtest hotel we stayed in during our 13 day holiday in Ireland, but one of the most expensive....the shower was scary...the grout was very bad, the showerhead was dirty, there was a too-long, dirty shower curtain that rested in the tub, the sink self-stopper got... more

The Meetings

We stayed at The Meetings last year for a couple of nights and liked it so much we went back this year again! It is located in such a beautiful area of Ireland. County Wicklow has so much to offer; beautiful countryside, lovely walks, fishing. golf. etc. The Meetings gets its name from the meeting of two rivers which join... more

Kippure is a nice place, with nice houses for self catering. The area is beautiful and quite. We've paid quite a lot, but felt that it wasn't a good value (in comparison with other places we have stayed). The main problem was that the owners allowed a large group of people to have a party in the Kippure bar until... more

Not the easiest place to find (4km from the main road) but well worth it, especially for the view from a balcony room. The breakfast porridge (with lashings of brown sugar and cream) was exceptional, as was the daily home-baked bread; aside from these, you can have virtually any breakfast variation you want. The lodge is newly built for its... more

Glendalough

If your trip to Ireland takes you only to Dublin I highly suggest getting out of the city for a day. Just half an hour south of Dublin (unless you get lost as we did!) lies Glendalough, in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains. Glendalough was founded in the 6th century by St. Kevin, a hermit priest, but soon others... more

European Golf Club

For golfers this is as good as it gets-have played most of the links courses in Ireland and Northern Ireland and Royal County Down, Waterville, and The European are my three favorites. The European is probably the best conditioned of the links courses-perfect fairways, very good greens. Most of the tees are elevated which afford magnificent ocean views as well... more

This was my fourth time staying in what I think has to be the best B&B in Ireland! As soon as we arrived through the doors we were made to feel so welcome and quite literally all the worries of the world disappear and you relax in the comfort and oppulance of the B&B. Underground heating, a truly lovely bedroom... more

Grand Hotel Wicklow

I am trying to be fair. In reality it might be I should not have expected much but it was fairly awful. The staff were friendly but the room was not clean (someones gum on the bathroom flooor and I had to ask them to vacum the room after 3 nights). Breakfast was a mushy, fatty nightmare. Be prepared. It... more

Driving there we thought, Where are we? but rounding the corner after the sign "Welcome to the Meetings" We were delighted to see a Hotel/Pub set in a beautiful surrounding. This is definately the best B&B in Ireland. The rooms are well decorated, clean and spacious and if you get a balcony you will have the most fabulous views over the mountains. The hosts are warm and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful to us (and they make the best porridge in the world). Great value for money. Really... more

We stayed here for 2-nights at the end of our whirlwind tour of Ireland. I was a little concerned because it is not walking distance to anything but it was absolutely fabulous. After all the driving and running around it was so nice to have a relaxing stay in the mountains. Marilyn was so wonderful. The property is beautifully maintained... more

The hostel itself is beautiful, very clean and with clear and large rooms. The facilities are above average, with an excelent self-catering kitchen, and the staff very friendly. But still the best is the location, and the views from the gorgeaus garden of the hostel. A great experience! more
