La Riboto de Taven

15 Oct 2008

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. It’s not cool and it’s not stuffed with facilities but, for 4 nights on our honeymoon it was perfect. We had one of the troglodyte suites which was extremely comfortable and very unusual – carved into the cliff face. I think it was a bonus that the adjoining one... more

This hotel is difficult to rate because most aspects where very good or excellent but a couple of items were real issues. First the negative. Finding the place is very difficult. Even with the hotel directions and detailed Michelin map the hotel was hard to find. Do not even think about trying to find this hotel in the dark! That... more

This was the second visit my wife and I have made to Benvengudo. Our first was two years ago and this visit was even nicer. The hotel has undergone extensive renovations and is just beautiful. The grounds and settings have always been spectacular and now the inside is just as nice. The room was very comfortable, with an excellent bathroom.... more

Wonderful location near the old village of Les Baux. Outstanding cuisine with a delicate palette of flavours. Terribly high prices, but the whole experience is really worthwhile. more

This is a lovely inn located in a beautiful part of France. From here it is possible to explore much of Provence both to the north, east and west. Although the food was excellent, the meal prices were quite high and I would recommend going into one of the villages nearby for meals. . A good village for breakfast would... more

We spent four nights at The Prince Noir as our base for sightseeing in Provence. All the essential sites were within a one hour drive. The Prince Noir is a challenge to find as you drive up the hill to the entrance of Les Baux and then maneuver through the narrow streets of the midevil town to a stone staircase... more

There is not much more I can say about La Riboto de Taven that has not been covered in the previous reviews. We stayed four nights during August, 08. Christine and Phillip are wonderful and make the difference between a good stay and a great experience. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. I highly recommend a visit. more

We were booked into this hotel as a part of a cycling tour group. The hotel is quite modern, which has it's plusses and minuses. While it lacks some of the character of older hotels, it has been built in very sympathetic style to the surroundings and has nice mod cons. Rooms are spacious by European standards and bathrooms large... more

Quite simply exceptional! The property only has 6 bedrooms and the owners, Christine, Phillipe and Jean Pierre do all the work themselves (plus one maid) and this really shows with the level of service and attention to detail. The menu is different every day and is absolutely exquisite! We have been fortunate enough to stay at some lovely hotels around... more

We recently stayed at La Benvengudo w/our 3 sons ages 14, 11 & 7 for 3 nights. We had 2 connecting rooms that were quite convenient & comfortable. If we had booked earlier, we probably could have gotten a family-sized suite that would have accomodated us all. Our rooms were located in the main building which was convenient for us... more

We have just returned from a week in the South of France staying 5 nights in Relais and Chateaux hotels and then 2 blissful nights at La Ribito. What a find! Christine and her husband are superb hosts and Christine's brother is a fine chef (awarded a Michelin star during his time in the UK) producing wonderful food. We stayed... more

Oustau de Baumaniere

The room and grounds were pleasant (but a mile away from the main restaurant and hotel reception - you need to drive between the two!), and in fact right next door to Cabro D’or (the buildings are spread out around the town, not really an ‘estate’ as they claim to be, as there are other hotels and buildings in between).... more

Our stay at Mas d'Aigret left us with mixed feelings. Positive: - nice room & bathroom, recently renovated - pleasant balcony with fabulous view of the valley - great location, right beneath the castle of Baux, near St. Remy and several top vineyards - Calm setting - Absolutely excellent cuisine, for lunch and dinner - Rest of staff (see below)... more

We had organized a family reunion there (wedding) of around 20 people and were thrilled at the idea of spending time. At the end of the week-end, we had enjoyed a true unique time and timeless experience that "outperformed" our expectations. Both the location, the rooms and private house we had booked (La Guigou) and above all the gourmet meal... more

We stayed at La Riboto de Taven for two nights on our honeymoon this past July and had a lovely visit. We were fortunate enough to book into one of their two suites which are truly incredible (280 Eu a night). They are built into the rock face of the limestone rock and they have carved out, what is basically,... more

All was great here until checkout, when the desk staff first insisted on charging me for a package I had already paid for in advance, and then insisted on adding breakfast charges that the payment had already covered. After I dug out the emails and produced the web-based itinerary, they finally relented. The attitude that the customer is wrong is... more

Riboto is the most romantic, most unique wonderful little hideaway we've ever stayed at. It even beat a vineyard we stayed at in Tuscany last year as our new favorite spot! Tucked in a cliff of the Provencial town of Les Baux (about 10 minutes from St-Remy-de-Provence and 30 minutes from Avignon), this "hotel" is truly a gem. With only... more

We fell in love with this place while looking for a place to get married 4 years ago, having heard good reviews before from people that were looking for a cheaper alternative to the formerly Michelin *** ( now **) Ousteau de Baumaniere. This is the same owner ad there is now clearly a trend to merge the infrastructure there... more

Well Maintained; Clean, Manicured, managed with tender loving care! Our Family of four [11 year old daughter and 15 year old daughter] stayed two nights July 1 and 2. First, location is 4 minutes from Les Baux Town and Cathedral D'Image. More importantly, only 10 minutes to St. Remy- dont miss on Wednesday market day, highlight of 15 year old... more
