Residencial Sao Francisco

A group of us rented at this place for 3 days. We wouldn't have stayed except that we had prepaid and didn't know how to get out of it. The lady at the front desk did not speak English. The smell was like being in a convalescent home. The carpets were thin and soiled, our mattress felt like it was... more

This place is wonderful. Having had poor food in the Azores for 10 days it was great to have a treat in the restaurant of this pousada. Really nice food - so it can be done if people know how. The pousada is in a wonderful location at the harbour in Horta. We had an amazing view of Pico volcano... more

This is a great hotel. Very clean rooms, all rooms have a balcony which overlooks the town as well as Pico. Hotel staff was friendly and courteous. Lobby and lounge area were comfortable and we enjoyed sitting there in the evening to relax after a long day of visiting the countryside. Food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and very... more

Residencial Sao Francisco

I've stayed in Residencial S. Francisco in 2006 while traveling on business (not my choice) and now in 2008 with a group of people ... so I had the chance to see more than one room. The only positive thing I can say about the place is the view, outstanding! Staff was nice. But ... 1. the furniture was extremely... more

The Marina of Horta

14 Jul 2008

Every visitor to Horta must take a walk through the marina and down the promenade. If you stay at the Poussada this is likely to be your morning, afternoon or evening stroll since this "hotel" is right on the promenade (although it is quite private and probably quiet inside - I didn't stay there but took a look inside for... more

My wife and I spent three nights at Pousada de Santa Cruz, June 18-20 ,2008 at the beginning of an 11 day Azores trip. The hotel is built within the walls of a 450 year old fortress and is right on the waterfront and marina where sailors from around the world pull into port. Many languages could be heard on the... more

The hotel is close to everything...The boot is coming in front of the hotel..The peter's sport cafe is at 200m...Perfect location. The breakfast is perfect. The sole "problem" was the fact that the room has no view... A place to sta for sure. more

The Pousada has a great location overlooking the harbour and marina in Horta. The room was small but very clean and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant was also OK but the entire place looked "dated" to me and could use a refresh. more

My wife, 2 year-old son, and I spent 18 days in the beautiful Acores Islands. The first 5 nights were in Horta, Faial and the rest was on the capital of Sao Miguel. We flew from Providence, Rhode Island via SATA Airlines directly into Sao Miguel, (St. Michael) Island. We had a problem upon arrival because they wouldn't check our... more

I stayed on three different Islands during my trip and this Hotel was by far the best I stayed at. The staff is very friendly and if you have trouble speaking Portuguese, you will have no problem here because the staff speaks english very well. I enjoyed the breakfast and the location across from the Ferry is very convient. Unfortunately,... more

We really enjoyed our 4-day stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke English. They arranged a driver for us in Pico for a day trip. The hotel was spotless and very centrally located, with many restaurant choices in the area. We visited 4 islands while in Azores, and Faial was, by far, our favorite. more

This hotel belongs to the bensaude company (like marino atlantico, more or less equivalent to this one but more calm) Hotel do canal is one of their 4 stars hotel. Even if it is one of the best address in horta, a few disappointments: so much noise in the dinning room which is organised to receive groups and families (not... more

A lovely hotel. Only complaint is that the 'hot breakfast' is in fact cold - like many hotels. Best rooms are on the front and overlooking the courtyard. Back rooms adjoin a busy road but they are not noisy - double glazed. more

A great hotel, we had a wonderful room on the third floor with a spectacular view. The hotel is close to both the Marina and the Ferry terminal. Meals are excellent quality and the evening buffet includes apparently unlimited free wine. Staff are polite, helpful and have good English. Although there are no public areas on the ground floor there... more

We spent 6 days at Estrela do Atlantico and it was fantastic. The rooms were great, the breakfast was excellent and you cannot find a better host than Ruth.
