We went to the Bratsera Hotel not sure what to expect having read varying reviews on the hotel beforehand. The hotel exceeded our expecations. The setting was lovely, great swimming pool, lovely courtyard, and some interesting areas within the buildings. The service throughout was very good. The staff were helpful and informative and the rerstaurant was the best on the... more
If you are looking for the run of the mill, up market chain hotel with rooms the same world over, then do not book here!!! If you are looking for somewhere unique, then try a stay at the Bratsera.Admittedly the rooms are small, but have character.Yes the en-suite are small with only showers, but what more would you want in an old... more
My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at the Miranda Hotel on Hydra. We cannot compliment Yanni and Poppi enough on their friendly service which was both genuine and informative (tips for best tavernas were accurate and much appreciated). The hotel itself is a renovated merchant house typical of the style dating back to... more
We view ourselves as seasoned travelers, with 10 land based vacations to all parts of Greece, spread over a dozen and a half years. The first attempt to visit Hydra was a delightful pleasure made especially perfect while staying at the Phaedra Hotel. We are do-it-yourselfers and know when things are "right". The Staff, led by Hilda, the owner, made... more
Areti is a small good pension very close to the port of Hydra, family managed. In this tipical house of Hydra there are rooms with bath, tv and climate, and a common terrace where you can see the street of the town and an angle of the port. Rooms are surely clear but can be little better. Owner are kind... more
We went to a wedding on Hydra and stayed in this hotel for a weekend. When we talked with other wedding guest staying at the same hotel, we found out that each room is different; The size of the rooms are different, the conditions are different. Some have semi-private balconies, others doesn't. Not only that, we all paid different prices... more
We have just returned from the Four Seasons Hydra Luxury Suites and Restaurant in Vlichos Hydra Island Greece and loved it. It was excellent. We were there with our three children and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by Irini who made sure that we had a great experience. The rest of the staff was very courteous and helpful.... more
My wife and I have visited Hydra annually over the last several years and have stayed in various hotels/ guest houses. This was our first time at the Phaedra and we were very impressed. We stayed in the Phaedra room - huge by Hydra standards - very well appointed with A/C and a small private balcony. Hilda is the consummate... more
The pretty Hotel Nefeli is a very special place, situated high up in the traffic-free town of Hydra, well away from the bustling port. Alex and Brett, who run the hotel, are great hosts. Alex met us at the ferry and sent our luggage up by mule (the only form of transport) and accompanied us up to the hotel. There... more
We have just returned from the best holiday we have ever had spent in the marvellous Hotel Nefeli on Hydra. We had originally booked to stay 1 week at Hotel Nefeli in Hydra and 1 week in Spetses, however we returned to the Hotel Nefeli after 1 night in Spetses as ANYWHERE was a complete anticlimax after our fantastic experience... more
We have visited many hotels before but this time it was for a special occasion our daughters wedding. We just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay at the Hotel Mistral. Jenny and her husband and staff were extremely accomodating from checkin to checkout. The breakfast was terrific and mid morning Frappe was tremendous. Jenny was extremely helpful with arrangements and suggestions on the Island and for any transportation needs off island. We would defintely return to Hydra... more
Arrived at port of Hydra on a busy Friday. Hotel rep met me with a mule to take my luggage. Walk up was OK, nothing too tiring and worth it when you get there. Room very clean, had everything I needed including lovely little shampoos and soaps in the bathroom which i have not had on the other islands throughout... more
My partner and I stayed at the Bratsera earlier this month for 3 days with 2 other couples. We had decided to go to Hyrda for a few days at the beginning of a three week trip to relax and get in some non- touristy Greek island culture. Hydra was fantastic - like something out of a movie. The Bratsera... more
advantages: -very nice view -very quiet -clean and nice decorated disadvantages: -poor buffet -expensive (80 euros per night!!) -not well organized (coffee machine broke and there was not any second one, we waited an hour for the plumper to finish his job in the bathroom althought they could do it in the morning till 5 when we arrived) -15' walk... more
Loved Hydra, unfortunately the hotel let it down. We paid over 300 euros’ a night for a very basic hotel room, in which you could hear every word the people in the next room said. One of the reasons for choosing the Bratsera was for the beautiful pool; this we discovered was shut for maintenance for the whole of our... more
I'm an experienced traveler. We really liked this place and would definitely like to return. The agreed-on price was a good value, and we were comped to a better room. The room seemed recently renovated and was very comfortable. The hotel is in a quiet location. The breakfast was very nice - probably the best we had in 2 weeks... more
This is a beautiful hotel, with a freindly welcome. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent with a large variety and something different each day. The only down side to this hotel as with many in Hydra is the lack of terraces or balcony. There is a garden area where breakfast is... more
This was our fourth time on Hydra but first time at the hotel Nefeli which had recently come under new management. It's a 10 minute walk up hill from the ferry but the owners met us and organised for a "taxi" ie mule to carry our suitcases up to the hotel. In the past we had stayed nearer the harbour... more
