A large group of us stayed in the Kirklands Hotel in July, when we attended a friends wedding in the area. From the minute we got there, when someone came out to the car to greet us and help with our luggage, the service was outstanding. We had dinner in the hotel in the evening and it was lovely. Again... more

Having read several reviews about this hotel , I was very concerned as to what the Hotel was like, so I phoned and asked the receptionist- Ashley- and although I think she was thrown by someone asking her this question she completely put my mind at rest, assured me that we had a newly re- furbished room - which we... more

Fantastic can't wait to return. Had lunch in the bar, great atmosphere and the food was exceptional. Booked a table a for dinner in the 'funky, stylish, lime green resturant " and it just got better. The owners are professional, friendly and make you feel very special. more

A party of 12 of us, all middle aged and grumpy old men stayed in May 2008 and had 6 twin rooms. We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast basis and also included golf on the Montgomery and Bruce courses during out stay. The accomodation was first class, it was clean and the furnishings were in good order. It... more

Having stayed at this Hotel in April 2008, I have no major problem of the Hotel as such but the resturant is a different matter on our first meal the chicken was uncooked in the middle, the veg was as good as raw , meals were very small , as we were a coach party of 28 we sat at... more

Its possible that Travelodge have now realised that they are near the bottom of the pile in the budget hotel market. This is the usual Travelodge full of tired rooms but ...... with signs of improvements on the way. The room had a small plasma tv and a new shower fitted over the bath. The hotel is located next to... more

Four of us decided to eat there one Saturday night. 1. We wanted to have a bar meal, but the combination of very noisy TV and screaming kids sent us to the restaurant. 2. For the pre-dinner drinks the gin and tonics were flat with not a single bubble and the dry white wine spritzer had lemonade, not soda water.... more

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at the Kirklands Hotel and would certainly have no hesitation in suggesting it as a good place to stay in the area. The hotel has only recently re-opened following refurbishment and is bright and fresh throughout. The management and staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the accommodation was above our expectations.... more

The rooms are lovely and clean and the Blue and the Gold room on the 1st are ideal if a group wants two rooms as they have a little sitting area inbetween. I think you could borrow videos to watch in your room if you wanted. The main reason for this review however is that this is one of the... more

We stayed at the Green Hotel following a wedding. The room was very comfortable and well sized but overpriced. The staff could have been a lot more friendly and helpful. We arrived for breakfast and the staff proceeded to pack away the breakfast items despite there being 30 minutes left on the breakfast service. Disappointing considering the hotels size and... more

We stayed there for a Sunday night. I played golf in the afternoon (good quality course, great price with the guest discount) while my fiancee used the leisure club. Our room was a decent size, clean, and was to a good modern standard of accomodation. The best feature of the hotel was the food. Our dinner was excellent and the... more

Stayed on business, it was very good value, clean but dated, but that didnt matter, nice swimming pool e.t.c on site but this costs £6 extra. The restauarnt was pretty average and overpriced so i advise you go looking about the town for a nicer meal. Locatuion was spot on and the town was lovely to walk about in. The... more

What a great place to stay! Lovely welcoming hotel with very friendly staff and a perfect location for the girls on tour as there are 2 excellent golf courses immediately across the road. We had 2 very large twin rooms - very clean and comfortable. En suite bathrooms were small but perfectly adequate. Dinner in the restaurant was superb quality... more

We travelled up to a friends wedding in nearby Cleish. This b and b was one suggested to us by the wedding couple! A lovely straight drive from Edinburgh airport, over the Forth Road Bridge and really easy to find. We were welcomed into the b&b much earlier than their usual time, and shown to our room which had been... more

We have just returned from a 2 day break at the Windlestrae Hotel. The hotel is like a time warp. I am in my mid-thirties and the decor of this hotel has never been fashionable during my conscious lifetime! The carpets downstairs are a blue floral pattern. The hotel bar looks like the day room of an old peoples home.... more

We took a short break of 4 nights. There are 2 cottages (attached) which is an old mill conversion. The setting is rural and very peaceful. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard. The dinner service is Royal Doulton, the mugs Denby and the appliance are Smeg. Very well kitted out, they have thought of everything. The property... more

Spacious hotel set in peaceful surroundings. Food was ok with the exception of receiving stale sandwiches for a lunchtime snack. Staff were friendly and helpful but generally the hotel is tired and dated. It could do with an upgrade. Rooms were very large and quiet. Didn't have time to try the swimming pool but it look good from outside. All... more

I stayed here with about 30 well-behaved high school students from Louisville, KY, USA in late June 2005. We had a customized trip with EF tours. By far, this was the nicest hotel out of the three we stayed in during our trip. The rooms had large, comfortable beds. The restrooms were well maintained and modern considering the hotel's location... more
