What has happened to this hotel - I cannot recognise it as the same place on the web site ! First the OK things - the room was Ok - clean and reasonably comfortable, the staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful, my husband said the cooked breakfast was good. Now the bad things. The first floor windows have been obscured... more

Town centre location, easy for shopping and eating out. Very good restaurant and service. Breakfasts were good with a choice of cereals, dried fruits and nuts and a variety of cooked breakfasts including continental style. Huge outside grassed area and undercover decked veranda. Friendly staff. We stayed in the family room/bridal suite for three nights and although it was incredibly... more

Stayed at the Phoenix for a weekend as had a wedding nearby. This hotel COULD be absolutely beautiful. It needs a lot of money and TLC spent on it. All the rooms are extremely spacious but need re-decorating and much of the furniture needs replacing. Our room was large with TV, tea /coffee facilities and an en-suite. Unfortunately (as with... more

We were booked in to the Hotel by my Nephew who was good enough to pay for myself, wife and 10 year old son. (We were attending his Wedding the following day). My Nephew had booked us in to 'the best room' in the Hotel, The Penthouse Attic Suite, which whilst normally costing £140 per night, he had negotiated down... more

Bombay Tandoori

27 Jul 2008

The Bombay Tandoori is a shabby restaurant in need of a good make over. The staff are not very friendly and the service is very rushed. We have been on many occasions and have been quite unwell so have now given up. If you are in need of an Indian restuarant I recommend that you venture into Norwich and visit... more

PROS Kind and helpful staff (eg. they let me occupy my room well before the official check-in time). Secure doors (opened with a magnetic stripe card). Spacious room. Stereo TV. Some items of furniture are beautiful. Simple but elegant decor. Clean towels, sheets, sink, tub. Low price (Ł35 pn for a single, without breakfast /which is c. Ł9/). CONS The... more

Have just stayed at Greenbanks Hotel in Norfolk, it was great! The food was lovely, the staff very friendly, got a great tan just sitting by the fishing lake. I think our room had just been redecorated, it was very nice and clean, would not hesitate to stay there again. more

We have just stayed at this Great place and had a wonderful time. My partner is a coeliac (gluten free) and was so happy to be able to sit and relax and enjoy all her meals without any worries. From the moment we arrived and were taken to our room we could tell we'd booked the right place. I had... more

We were made welcome from the minute we arrived. A very comfortable room with all disabled amenities which were perfect for us. The choice of food was excellent, breakfast was a pleasure and our evening meal with friends was out of this world. Alex is a great chef. If we ever go back to Norfolk, this is the place for... more

Have stayed before, wanted to visit several places of interest in Norfolk and this is central. I was welcomed by the owner and offered tea and coffee, was shown to my room which was very clean and nicely decorated. Fresh towels, a box of tissues, toiletries and tea and coffee were all laid out neatly. I found the room very... more

Thank goodness I didnt read the previous review, before booking our stay at Bartles. Instead we were reccommended by my inlaws. Who do not fish and only stay at top establishments. Im not saying the previous review was wrong, just that its out of date now. We went end April 2008. Bartles is now owned by a charming couple called... more

A small country hotel offering great cooking, comfortable rooms, and a relaxing atmosphere. Previous reports form Purple and Callumco have summed up the service very well. The short but interesting menu offers something to please everybody and the food is cooked to perfection. Vegetarians will be delighted to find a restaurant that that really understands and appreciates vegetarian cookery. The... more

My husband and I wanted a quick weekend away in a pleasant hotel. I myself have a coliaec diet which can be hard to cater for in many hotels. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner Jennie who showed us to our room - which had been recently refurbished, which we thought was a good start to our stay. While I enjoyed my stay at the George, I was very upset and disappointed with the staff at the end of my stay. Shortly after I left the Hotel, I discovered I had left some belongings in the bathroom, which were expensive and had sentimental value to me. I contacted the Hotel and on speaking to various members of the... more
