The Albany

I have got to say this is one of the worst so called hotels that I have ever stayed at. My family and I visited melbourne for a four day break, everything else we loved apart from the 'hotel'. The place was nothing like it is described on any of the websites. The pictures of the rooms were very misleading.... more

After parking the car in the '10 minute check in area' we couldn't access the reception from the carpark and had to trudge back up the drive and enter the hotel from the street. Check in was OK - but to find your way back to the car (2 lifts and weird security measures in place) we eventually found our... more

This hotel was one of the options at a conference. I was with my colleague, so wasn't sure of the room layout - however it was perfect. Spacious 2 bedroom 2 bathroom - large kitchen and open living - was very nice. There were some minor disappointments - TV's were old and all the fittings and finishings were cheap -... more

We wanted a special place for a long awaited break, and booked the 'stunning' SkySuite which the hotel said had 'amazing views' and a 'large balcony'; in fact, it had a three foot wide concrete ditch between the window and a four-foot high external wall (painted dark grey) and a view straight into the next-door office block. Inside, the decor... more

I am a fan. beautiful presentation for some original and very well executed dishes. the smoked wagu tongue was the highlight of the lunch. Ocean trout was stunning in the presentation. Foie gras parfait was perfect in flavour. We had the Bress cider and the Marcarini moscato to drink. The latter had a very elegant perfume and the right balance... more

Quality Hotel Batman's Hill on Collins

9 Oct 2008

A recently refurbished hotel right opposite the main railway station (Southern Cross) in the centre of the city. My standard room on floor 5 was enormous and spotlessly clean with a king size bed, desk and full size bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful. Only problems were traffic noise 24/7 due to central location and lack of internet connections (which were... more

Harbour View Apartment Hotel

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Harbourview Apartments in Melbourne. The apartment was very dirty and obviously hadn't had a proper clean for years. The apartment block was rundown and several aspects of the apartment needed upgrading or replacing such as the kettle and cupboards which had yellowed over many years of use. The bedsprings were coming... more

We stayed two nights and found the room clean, bed comfortable and shower and toilet facilities better than expected after reading some reviews. The position of the hotel is fantastic. It is a pity that a couple of extras such as tea/coffee making facilities or even a drinking glass aren't included. more

Almost enough said! But the individual chocolates and truffles are also a favourite. Best value for money are the combos eg Belgian spoil or Biscuit combo which give you a taste of a few things eg chocolates, mousse, ice cream more

Verge

I have been to Verge 3 times in the last 9 months. The service has been incredible each time with very attentive waiters. The ambience and view of the park are lovely. Although the food portions are admittedly small, they are perfectly presented with amazing combinations of flavours and textures. This is the sort of place where you taste and... more

We picked the Crown Towers for a romantic getaway as we only had 4 days off. The hotel is oppulent, service outstanding and restaurants some of the best we have eaten at. In particular we fell in love with Nori and will visit it every time we are in Melbourne. The gymnasium and swimming pool are the best we have... more

The Crossley Hotel

8 Oct 2008

Stayed at the Crossley for one night on Grand Final day, and, like all Melbourne hotels, paid a premium to do so. Checked in and advised my husband would be joining me later, so the receptionist made a key card for him and placed it to one side. Unfortunately there must have been a change in shift, because when he... more

Quest Fairfax House

I just travelled over to Melbourne to visit my daughter and stayed at this wonderful establishment! It is centrally located right in the middle of the city, so I could just walk everywhere and not get lost on public transport. There is also a cute little lane behind the apartments where there are so many dining options and some street... more

Stayed at the Travelodge Southbank for four nights in late September 2008. The hotel was booked as part of a package with the airline. For a basic services hotel, we were very impressed! We stayed on the 2nd floor, streetside. While we didn't have much of a view, it wasn't a brick wall; we could see up and down the... more

My partner and I have stayed here a total of three times now. It is just a short walk to crown casino complex and is very affordable. we usually pay around $150 - $180 a night including breakfast. The layout is something which some will love and others will hate, with only a curtain dividing the lounge and bed, personally... more
