We have recently returned from 4 days at Riverlander caravan park. Located 7km out of Echuca, it was a pleasant place to spend a few days. we rented a cabin with 3 bedrooms. The cabin was spotless with all the essential features. The facilties provided at the park were adequate. A large , clean pool and a small playground. The... more
We stayed at this boutique hotel on their midweek special package. We didn't know what to expect really as we are used to staying in modern accommodation but we were really pleasantly surprised with our experience. We traveled to Echuca by train/coach from Melbourne and the proprietor, Ray, even picked us up from the station. Our first glimpse of the... more
We chose this park as it is the closest to the town & the port. It's large & very clean. Our heater wasn't very strong & it took a while to heat up the cabin. It also leaked on the balcony. I probably wouldn't go there in summer as there were not enough trees to provide adequate shade. If the... more
We loved our stay at Acacia Terraces! The position is fantastic and just a few minutes walk to Echuca historic/touristy area. There are only 4 units. The owner also takes care of the units, her family house is just in front of the units. She is very friendly and helpful, but because it is privately run, you can only contact... more
The Echuca branch of the Beechworth Bakery is one of six scattered throughout regional Victoria, the first at Beechworth having been established by baker Tom O'Toole around 1984. The Echuca premises are in historic premises and feature al fresco dining in the street. On Sundays, jazz musicians tend to make an appearance. You do however pay for the name and... more
Excellent Hotel, Very happy, we contacted this hotel direct to obtain an extra special rate, it was extremely centrally located and within easy walk to all the historical sites and ports of Echuca about a half a block to the main shopping area. Initally we looked at other hotels but upon arriving saw that there was alittle walk to get... more
This Echuca restuarant like a number of its colleagues in this 'tourist town' has what I call an 'Echuca loading.' Because this is one of the more popular towns on Australia's Murray River for Melbourne and Sydney tourists to visit, the restaurants tend to charge higher prices than is typical in rural Australia. The mains here were mostly above $25,... more
Our trip on the P.S. 'Pevensey' allowed us to sample this 1911-built, 1976-refloated restored wood fired paddlesteamer. It seems to be the most authentic paddlesteamer still operating at the iconic Port of Echuca. It is easy to reach Echuca on V/Line's trains and coaches, and for variety, there are three ways to travel with V/Line: via Bendigo by either the... more
This motel was outstanding. From the limited amount of free water, beer and soft drinks available (most unusual in an Australian motel) to the friendly receptionist and well appointed, clean rooms, we did not experience a single problem. The tariiff of $110 a double was reasonable value considering the quality accommodation we received. It would be 50 per cent more... more
I stayed for one night at the Motel. The hosts Linda and Russell were lovely. I told Russell my kids were looking forward to watching TV, so he changed my room so there would be a bigger TV. A light bulb had blown at my door, so asked if it could be fixed and politely I was told it would... more
This motel is one of the better ones in rural Victoria and is helped by being in a fast-growing twon on the Murray River with a wonderful climate for three seasons of four - the only exception being in summer when it can be oppressively hot. Arriving late at night I lacked the time to explore and so pretty much... more
Motels are always a bit hit and miss but the Pevensey in Echuca is one of the best we have ever stayed in. The facilities are kept in excellent condition and recent upgrades make for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The staff are outstanding! more
Took a day tour to Bendigo and Echuca. Had lunch at a restaurant near the loading dock and enjoyed the best fish and chips in my memory. Then we took a ride on the Murray River. Enjoyed the unique scenery. However the boat stopped by a restaurant about halfway through the trip to pick up some passengers and that was... more
We asked politely for a quiet room a week earlier when we booked on the internet and as we checked in right at 1pm on the day, we felt we may be able to get such a room, the so called owner laughed at us and then advised there were none available even though there was not one car in... more
Overpriced. Food is ok but nothing to really get excited about. Nice position overlooking the river. more
This is our fav at the moment. Great food, reasonably priced. Only complaint- have to constantly ask for more drinks. more
For a country town famous for its past glory as a major river port, there are very few places to stay where you can actually enjoy a river view from your hotel room. Most of the Echuca offerings are sprinkled along the town's main roads, except for a handful of B & B or old hotel rooms in the old... more
