We chose to stay here based on the location, easy access to the Victorian Heritage Day activities, and the "romance" of staying in a hotel extant since 1890s or so. On arrival Saturday afternoon, no staff was present whatsoever, but one busy waitress in the coffee shop. We waited ackwardly for a full 30 minutes with no sign of life... more

This is the perfect place to start a vacation in New Zealand. After traveling over 26 hours, we arrived to such a warm welcome and gracious hospitality.
