We spent three days in Tikal, one of which was in Flores. Highly recommend both. Stay at one of the hotels at the ruins, gives you lots more opportunity to fully explore the ruins and to check out the visitors center. Flores is a delightful little town on the way to Tikal. My wife and I stayed at the Jungle Lodge inside the park. The food was good and the beers were cold. It was really great to be inside the park. I like hearing all of the animal noises at night.
