I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro a few weeks ago with my two sons. It was an exciting, exhiliarating experience. I am 68 and my sons are 45 and 34. We thoroughly enjoyed our time together on the mountain. My two sons made it to the top with ease. The last two hours of the summit were a real challenge for me... more

We completed our Kilimanjaro trek last year and stayed a Ameg for 2 day before and 2 day after the trek. It is a secure site with 24 hour security and set in its own walled compound. Ameg has the most beautiful gardens and a great pool and gym - the gym is really well equipped although after the trek... more

If you like service and a friendly attitude this place is NOT for you. The grounds are well kept and the room was fine but the attitude from the staff was horrible!! For starters they gave me one price over the phone then changed it when I got there, then only wanted US cash but wouldn't take $100 bills then... more

We were booked into this hotel prior to our climb of Kilimanjaro by our climbing company. The rooms and grounds were very nice to look at and stay in and we felt very safe with all of the security. However, no mosquito nets or flyscreens to keep out the hordes of mosquitos, the hot water was not always reliable and... more

The location and view is fantastic, its done very well. But that's as far as it goes. The service is horrible, the staff and director extremely rude. Certainly not what you would expect if you pay $110 per night. You get the same breakfast everyday, with local margarine, butter is out of question. If you ask for eggs done some... more

The two days at Njari Lodge were a big experience. It is a place where few tourists arrive, situated close to the forest and above the village of Uru. People are very friendly and you feel really welcome. It was a great experience to visit the families of the stuff of the lodge, walk in the village and in the... more

I recently travelled to kilimanjaro and seregeti with Masai Wanderings. (Late Dec - Jab begin). The trip was absolutely fantastic with excellent weather and even better crew. First we arrived in Arusha, where after spending a night we went to the kilimanjaro national park with our guides and porters.(Alas, my bags didn't come through for 2 days. Masai wanderings folks... more

Our tour on Exodus booked us into the Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort and it was a great place to rest up pre summit and wash up post summit. The rooms are big and bright - would say on a Holiday Inn type of quality level - but bigger rooms. Bathrooms were quite big with modern look and feel, smooth, polished tile,... more

My wife and I went to Tanzania for our honeymoon... First week was Safari, second was Kili and the 3rd was Zanzibar to recover from the mountain... For whatever reason, I have been thinking about climbing Kili for around 5 years... I love outdoor and am in reasonable shape but far from being a top notch hiker or extreme sport... more

I climed KILI early 2007 and we stayed at AMEG lodge for two nights. It has a nice setting, the rooms are very basic and need some improvement. It was loud at night, there was no hot water because the heater was turned off by the guards during the day to save electricity. Power went off several times and the... more

I came to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and stayed at the Protea Hotel Aishi. This hotel is nestled among hundreds of trees and and large lush lawns. It has a heated swimming pool and a gym. The service was top notch. Everybody went out of their way to make sure that I was well looked after. It's located about... more

We booked a long week end in Moshi through friends in the area. We liked the Lodge in its nice set gardens and the fabulous view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Unfortunatley our week end was ending with problems regarding the unfriendly management and less qualified staff at the reception. No credit cards accepted, then our dollar bills have been "not the... more

We were originally scheduled to stay at Kibo Hotel, an older establishment down the road from Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort (KMR), but about a month before our trip, the climbing company we were using to climb Kili switched us to KMR (Kibo was getting a lot of negative feedback from guests). KMR is a really pretty place -- way above average... more

I returned from Kili a couple of weeks ago. I used Africa Travel Resource, with their ground crew being Africa Walking. KLM lost my rucksack on the way out. Really not a good start. Problem: I was continually lied to by the people of Africa Walking Company about my rucksack before we even set off. The evening before I was... more

I didn't have knowledge of the which Tour Operator to use nor where to sleep. Then I started searching on the internet for Kilimanjaro climb, through Rongai route. I chose Rongai route because of previous clients that Rongai route is the easiest route to reach mount kilimanjaro summit. When I continued searching, I came across the Bella View Lodge, that... more

What is it about turning fifty that makes someone want to do something completely crazy? It never occurred to me to hike the Inca Trail, scuba dive with sharks or climb Mount Kilimanjaro when I was in my thirties. Maybe fifty is a wake up call…as if to say “you better do something special because you may be running out... more

Kahawa Shamba is in the beautiful Kilimanjaro Region. I stayed in one of the four dwellings built in the Chagga tribe style. Mine was set in a lovely garden and one morning I sat outside of the hut and watched Mount Kilimanjaro in the starlight and in the rising sun light. The visit included delicious, fresh food including fruits and... more

I climbed Kili in March with the Anthony Nolan Trust, and knew we would be using a hotel in Moshi as a base, but wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good as this. It's set in a big walled compound, which makes you feel more secure (although I never felt threatened whilst in Tanzania). The rooms are set... more

I stayed at AMEG for 2 nights before checking out and I was very disappointed. The rooms were poorly furnished and the quality of service was lacking. It is also very difficult to sleep at night because the rooms are not well ventilated and do not have air conditioning. When I placed my order for lunch I would receive something... more
