Four Points by Sheraton Cybercity

5 Dec 2009

I spend 1 night in this hotel on my way to the airport. As a SPG gold member, I received a great and warm welcome and I immediately felt I was an important customer...Even if you're not, you appreciate the fact they value loyalty to Starwood. I received an upgrade to a suite and I recognize the staff was very... more

Le Capitaine

This is one of the rare restaurants with a water view so the price is roughly 10x more than other seafood restaurants in the area. The personnel is inefficient and snobby. We went early on a Wednesday to check it out, the place was empty but we were told that there were no waterside tables for that evening. We therefore... more

SUMMARY This hotel is not aimed at the leisure market but we found it a decent choice for comfortable stay so long as you have a hire car. LOCATION Not the best location for a leisure trip but we had hired a car which made it a feasible choice as a base for exploring the island. It's on a new... more

This is the place for casual dining in the waterfront area. We wandered in to Tandoori Express at random, and it ended up being the only place in Mauritius where we ate twice. The food is very good, and seems to attract more locals than tourists even though the restaurant is right on the waterfront. Three set menus offer outstanding... more

Le Pouce

Part of the Moka mountain range. If you clench your fist with the thumb raised and its upper outline is exactly that of Le Pouce Mountain as seen from Port Louis. Le Pouce or 'the thumb' is the third highest mountain on Mauritius at 811 metres and the one that most people climb for its 360 degree view. more

The place is very well situated, open air, in the middle of the habour front, with view on the sea and town centre. Very affordable dishes and unique tastes. Love the Masala Dosas made there. A visit is recomended. :) more

I had a great time at the Grand Ocean. I love chinese food and was not disappointed. I go to lots of chinese restaurant in London and this is the best I've been to. The food is first class, especially the dim sum I must say. The place is modern and recently renovated. The staff was really friendly. My husband... more

Aapravasi Ghat is Hindi for immigration Depot. A building complex located on the Port Louis waterfront. It was the first British colony to receive indentured workers from India from 1849 to 1923. An estimated half a million Indian indentured labourers passed through the Immigration Depot and spread out to plantations throughout the British Empire. In Mauritius alone, almost two thirds... more

Le Suffren Hotel & Marina

23 Oct 2009

This was my second visit to Le Suffren. I find the hotel to be overpriced given that they do not have an onsite gym or pool (these are located at their sister hotel across the canal). Breakfast is nice but does not have fresh juices as I would expect from a hotel of this price. I tried staying at a... more

This is a greta business hotel in Port Louis that truly has some fantastic staff. Yes its getting on a bit but its elegant and proffessional and truly home away from home. I stay there as first option every time. It may not have a beach but makes up for it with the service and attention to detail. Love the... more

stayed in this hotel for two nights only and transfered to the other side of the island, which is much nicer. Hotel is pretty small, and old. Got a room with a balcony on the beach facing the ocean. Room wasn't awful, but not that nice. Had problems with door lock and balcony lock. The beach is small, and basically... more

Le Saint Georges is a high rise hotel (not a B&B). It has restaurant, bar, swimming pool, business centre, conference facilities, etc. The rooms are a decent size and clean and comfortable. In Mauritius everything loses at 5pm so there wasn’t much to do. Hence, we used to get up early and then started our daily excursions. The first place we went to was Port Louise which is the capital of Mauritius. Here we went to the Le Caudon waterfront, Port Louise waterfront and Harbor water front malls which have good branded... more
