We were staying at the Arabia Felix Hotel and we were taken to Burj al Salam by a Yemeni friend for lunch at the restaurant terrace on the top floor. The hotel, which is run by Italians, is very stylish and the atmosphere very relaxing. The view from the top floor is amazing and you can have delicious Italian style... more
I was in Sanna and stayed at the Taj in January of 08 for 4 nights. Hotel is nice. Staff friendly. Fresh fruit in room. Breakfast buffet included, excellent. Great location. Be careful crossing the street. Rooms should have clock. The negative is NOT on the hotel, but on Sanaa. Squat toilets, if you can find them, extremely dirty. That... more
Had a wonderful four-night stay at the Burj Al Salam in March 2008. The location of the hotel absolutely can't be beat - right in the heart of Old Sana'a, comfortable walking distance to the Bab al Yemen and the shopping areas. The rooftop terrace provides a birds-eye view of the old city which will allow for some excellent photographs.... more
We stayed here for 2 nights, went away around other parts of Yemen and were eagerly looking forward to return, which we did for another 3 nights. Love the stylish and tastefully decorated rooms. It took the owners 8 years to restore the building to be one of the best accommoation in Sana'a. It had the only lift inside Old... more
I just returned from Yemen after spending the week there with 6 girlfriends. We all loved Kais and the hotel staff, they could not have been more helpful or friendly! The rooms were lovely-great views, amazing stained glass windows, relaxing courtyard. The food was delicious, we never had to order, Kais always took care of whatever we wanted. It was... more
REview of Sanaa Nights Hotel This is a lovely little funduq (hotel) with helpful/friendly staff situated close to the western edge of the old city - abutting another hotel (which i did not have a chance to explore). I rented a room for 18 dollars a night (breakfast included) with a bathroom attached. The room had two beds, a western... more
only a few things got to me which were (1) Nothing about the things i was entitled to in my room"EXECUTIVE FLOOR" (2) Clueless reception girl (3) No idea a bar was on 8th floor untill i saw it on the floor list in the lift.I,m only giving this "ABOVE AVERAGE" because of location/country. more
I made my decision on Burj Al Salam based on the reviews posted on tripadvisor.com and I believe my decision was right. Burj Al Salam is even recommended in the Lonely Planet guidebook that I got for my trip. If cleanliness and safety is your major concern, then this is the place. If you wish to spend a little bit... more
The hotel is located in a nice, quiet location. The lobby and facilities are fairly good. The rooms are not super clean (you would not like to walk barefoot on the carpet) but i did not mind as i was there for a short trip. You might think again if you are planning a vacation, in such a case the... more
I stayed one night at the Movenpick while participating in a jeep safari through Yemen. After all the chaos, dust, and filth found elsewhere, this was a real oasis. A beautiful five-star hotel with excellent services. My room 320 was not huge but had all the amenities one would expect for the hotel's category. The bed was one of the... more
can I rate it by (-) is that A restaurant!! more
The Kawkaban cafe on the roof has the best view of old Sana'a. The food is not so interesting, but as it was Eid, it's possible that many main staff members were on vacation. We found the people at the receptionist inconsistent. Some were very helpful and informative, while others just didn't seem to know what was going on (didn't... more
A lovely boutique hotel in the middle of the old city of Sana'a...fabulous views from the windows...extremley efficient staff... the lady at the front office named Aimen was very co-operative, showed me the hotel, helped me with the city info and even arranged a visit to the local art galleries by literally calling out to a boy next door to... more
Stayed for two nights in Sheraton Sana'a (11-12 Oct '07). After spending a night at a boutique hotel in the old quarters of Sana'a, I needed to relax at a regular hotel! The check-in was quite disappointing...bell boy had to be called repeatedly although no other customers at the check-in. However the friendly duty manageress a Russian lady "Ludmillah" was... more
