Of course I was lucky to stay at a hotel because the last time I was in Sana'a (early this year) I had to stay at a compound apartment because of security issues. The rooms are fine but one surprise is there is NO CLOCK and NO KETTLE / TEA / COFFEE station in the room! Weird. I ordered a... more
I went to Old San'a in April-May 2008 for a wedding. I was able to stay in the home of bride and groom near Bab as-Sabah. The house was, of course, the traditional architecture -- masonry with white trim and several stories tall -- with pretty gamariyas in all the rooms. Because I came to visit friends, I knew how... more
This hotel is not easy to find in the old quarter and even taxi drivers have problems..but once you enter you are immediately in a different world. The bedrooms are charming and very comfortable and each room has a private shower. Breakfast is fine but the food in the restaurant at the top is excellent. Everyone is so helpful, from... more
nothing bad to say about the place. Everything was clean, hot showers 24h great breakfast and they can plan a great tours! My stay was too short, hopefully I can go back again in the near future! Thanks Kais! more
Stayed at this hotel for 4 days. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean with TV and fridge but the bathroom was very small. Hot water, hair dryer available in room. Located within the Old City and 5 mins. walk to the souk. Good rooftop restaurant with hotel prices. Hotel itself is quiet, but it is located between... more
I'm not sure i would advise going now, after the rise in militant islamic activity, but anyway otherwise i cannot recommend going to San'aa enough. My (pregnant) wife and I travelled there in June 2009 and it was for me the most amazing capital city i have ever been to. It's the poorest country in this arab part of the... more

I stayed in Burj during the end of Ramadan and Eid Mubarek. The old town is truly authentic and has medieval charm. The Burj staff are welcoming, energetic and knowledgeable. There is a private security guard although I felt the old town incredibly welcoming and safe. The shower was average, that said, I used the local Hamam each afternoon which... more
At first the hotel may seem pricey for Yemeni standards, and it may well be, however it really makes up for it on location, right in the middle of Old Sanaa and having spacious rooms (though I stayed at a suite) with all the traditional feel of old Yemen (colored glass, traditional locks) but modern day amenities. The views from... more
This is ostensibly a standard "high grade hotel", on a hill overlooking the sprawling city of Sana'a. Some of the good bits were: - the breakfast buffet, most of the staff and the cleanliness of the room. Some of the bad bits were: - some of the staff who needed to learn some basic human courtesy even before customer service... more
This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of the old quarter of sanaa. It is a traditional historical sanaa property of around six floors (no lift). It is kept very clean by the owner mr kais who is warm and friendly without being intrusive. He gives good sensible advice about sanaa and yemen, and will arrange anything you require... more
Stayed there for four nights for an extended weekend holiday from Djibouti. We asked for and were given a room with an ensuite bathroom, but when we arrived there at close to midnight, the high altitude, the tilted floor of the room and its smallness were just too much for us. The staff were kind enough to show us another... more
I have been there for few days. Weather is very nice and fresh. There is a nice Hotel called Istanbul in Hadda street near a good restuarant (El Diwan) so you can go for lunch on foot. Prices in Yemen is very cheap, you can buy electronic stuff, mobile phones, perfumes and cosmetics in very cheap prices. You can go... more
A city with a very old history. And the shame is that nothing changed much since. The people are very nice and the city is worth a visit. Specially the Bab Al Yemen (entrance to the old city) is a landmark. The architecture in (North) Yemen is famous. The downside is that after a few days... You've seen it all. more
Unica nel suo genere. Affascinante. Sicuramente da vedere. Consiglio di usare una guida locale poiché alcuni luoghi sono introvabili non... more
