Note that some computer maps produced by hotel reservation websites confuse the “Chisun Hotel Utsunomiya” with the “Sun Hotel Utsunomiya” (on the west, and opposite, side of the train station to the Chisun Hotel you want). This hotel was fine--the single room was the largest of the three hotels in which I stayed on this trip--but the smoke that came in the room was almost unbearable. The room was very clean, small, 10 minute walk from Utsu station. I used it to go to Mashiko Village. 7-11 around the corner. There are good eating places in Utsu station, the restaurants around the hotel are open only during meal times, don't seem to cater to foreign tourists (only Japanese signs). Just my guess.
