Tua Pek Kong is a god in ancient Chinese, believed to grant peace and prosperity (pls correct me if I am wrong) to the people. Astana (or Istana in Malay language means palace) was built by Charles Brooke, Sarawak second White Rajah in 1870, as a token of love to his beloved wife, Margerat. Build in 1879, firstly served as City Jail, later converted into defensive fortress, then a dance hall. Before it being closed down recently, it had being used as information center for tourists.
