Hill Farm Inn

5 of 5 stars
Wayne, New Jersey
10 Aug 2008

Great food, outstanding scenery, close to shopping (Manchester, VT) and historical areas (Bennington, VT). My wife & I spent 2 nights at Hill Farm Inn but it wasn't long enough. There is much to see and do in the area. Lisa & Al Gray are wonderful and friendly hosts. I got to go fly fishing with guide Marty Oakland, while... more

Arcady at the Sunderland Lodge

28 Jul 2008

My family and I have been staying at the Sunderland for more than 30 years for yearly reunions. The current owner, Bert, has been welcoming us for the last ten years. We feel very comfortable and always enjoy our time there. The breakfast's are fantastic as Bert is a former Marriott chef. You must try to mueslix, an oatmeal based... more

Candlelight Motel

21 Jul 2008

We had reservations for two nights. On the way to the hotel, our car caught fire and was totalled. When I called to cancel the reservation, the person I talked to said it "wasn't his fault" and that they'd have to charge us for the night. I explained again and he said "these are tough times" . He was possibly... more

Hill Farm Inn

Massachusetts
21 Jul 2008

We stayed in the inn's main house (there are also several separate guest cottages that looked nice from the outside). It's an 1830s farmhouse that could use an overhaul. I found myself imagining the place with fresh paint, leveled floors, updated bathrooms and new carpet, but perhaps that would only ruin its charm. While not a luxury getaway, the important... more

My husband and I recently spent a much needed getaway weekend in Vermont. We stayed at the Arcady for 2 nights. It was a wonderful stay. We were booked to stay at the Candlelight Inn for the nights of July 19 and 20, 2008. We were on our way to the hotel when we had serious car trouble (the car actually caught on fire!). Needless to say, we could not get to the hotel for our weekend. We called to cancel the reservation and were told... more

Green River Inn

east coast
13 Jul 2008

The Good: The location is the best thing going for this inn. It really is in the middle of nowhere: there's no cell phone reception, no traffic, and nothing within walking distance. You can spend the day sitting on lawn chairs next to the small river reading, and completely forget about your real life. The innkeepers were absolutely wonderful with... more

We love the Battenkill. For years we have camped at Camping on the Battenkill and enjoyed kayaking and canoeing the river. We love the area so much, we recently purchased a vacation/future retirement home directly on the river - just a few miles from the Vermont line in NY state. more

We have been staying at the Arcady for ten plus years, since the current owner purchased it. We stopped the first time just by chance. Since then, this is the only place we stay in this area of Vermont. We come there one or two times a year, and have recommended it to any of our friends that visit the... more

The Battenkill River Valley is a terrific place to explore. If you do some Googling you don't come up with a heck of a lot. Mostly trout fishing and a few canoe/kayak/camping outfitters.... but there's two days worth of paddling and possibly days of exploring local towns. I've paddled the Battenkill twice now. Both times in the summer. The first... more

My fiancee and I visited the Arlington Inn in November 2007 to get away for the weekend. It was our first time in Vermont and we enjoyed every minute of it thanks to the Arlington Inn. Message: Absolutely fantastic value for money! Bert is a great host, knowledgeable about the area and sincere! The rooms are clean and very comfortable! Breakfast is top class - above expectations for a motel! However, the homemade pizza did the trick after a long day on the pistes! Certainly recommend and am eager to return! more

We stay at the Arcady 2 or 3 times a year to visit relatives. After booking my reservation for two nights I ran across these reviews and I was concerned about the few very negative ones.
