La Gioconda House Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Maumee, OH
8 Jul 2009

What a wonderful place to stay! My wife and I stayed here the night we arrived in Costa Rica and the night before we left. The staff was EXTREMELY accommodating. Very friendly, recommended places to go, places to eat, they made a very nice breakfast, and were helpful with absolutely anything we needed. It was in a good location near... more

Parque La Sabana

4 of 5 stars
San Jose, Costa Rica
8 Jul 2009

While La Sabana is mainly just a giant green area with trails winding through, it is one of the top summer venues for big events in Costa Rica. If you are here from Nov. through the end of May, it's worth a walk through as you never know what you'll stumble upon! From international art festivals to horse parades, or... more

Hotel Presidente

7 Jul 2009

My wife and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. We were just staying at the Presidente the night before we left as a jumping off point to go to the airport. On the way here, our passports, camera, etc were all stolen. Needless to stay, I can't say I noticed a whole lot about the hotel the first... more

Hotel La Amistad

Venice, California
6 Jul 2009

This is the best place to stay in San Jose. I have tried other hotels and this is the best. The staff is very friendly and eager to please. This is probably not the best place to bring your family, but if you are single it is the place to stay. Made to order breakfast, fast internet, clean rooms, cable... more

Britannia Hotel

Chicago, IL
6 Jul 2009

We stayed here for one night only because we had to fly out of San Jose the next morning, and this was the cheapest option presented by LatinDestinations.com (the site we used to book our tour). For one night, it wasn't terrible, but I don't recommend it. We stayed in Room 204, which was clean and small and located right... more

This is my second time using Costa Rican Trails. The first time was 7 years ago on my honeymoon. This time I came with my wife and two small children. Lorena was great helping plan the trip and got us great rates and tours. The drivers were friendly, professional, patient, and always on time. This is simply the best compnay.... more

Gaudy's Backpacker Hostel

4 of 5 stars
New York City
4 Jul 2009

Gaudy's was really good and the staff was helpful. I arrived late at night and had a good night of sleep here. They were excellent in their communications beforehand as well, which is why I booked with them. I have no idea about the area as I left early the next morning. Yummy pancake breakfast, though! more

Adventure Inn

4 of 5 stars
Columbus, OH
4 Jul 2009

My wife and I truly enjoyed our accomodations at Adventure Inn. Some people think every hotel has to look and smell like a Hilton. We loved the unique decor and the extremely friendly staff. They saved me over $100 on a rental of a van for a week. We will be back! more

Crowne Plaza Hotel Corobici

4 of 5 stars
Providenciales
4 Jul 2009

I stayed at the Corobici for two nights on a business trip to Costa Rica. I had a junior suite for 165$ a night. The hotel is completely renovated, clean and great efforts have obviously been put in to modernize it. Same goes for the room. While everything looks fine, there is not much "charm" to the place... it still... more

Hotel La Amistad

Carolina Beach, NC
3 Jul 2009

Based on the reviews, I had really high expectations for this place. Perhaps that is why I was disappointed. I wanted to cap off our trip with a really nice place to relax on our last evening, so I sprung for the $150 penthouse with jacuzzi tub, sauna, and balcony. Plush, huh? Well, the jacuzzi didn't have hot water, and... more

Great stay!

Crowne Plaza Hotel Corobici

This is a lovely hotel which is situated at the edge of the city centre and is next to the highway. It's around a $20 taxi ride from the airport. The reception and bell boys are very knowledgeable with local information and extremely helpful. There is a Japanese restaurant in the hotel which is actually very good even if it... more

Bacchus

5 of 5 stars
Boston, Massachusetts
3 Jul 2009

Have had several wonderful meals at Bacchus, undoubtedly one of San Jose's best restaurants. The ambiance in an old country house near the beautiful church in Santa Ana is delightful. Try to get one of the tables on the patio. On my last visit, we started lunch on a Sunday at 2pm, by 5pm we were heading out but the... more

Hotel Cacts

2 Jul 2009

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the first and last leg of our trip in early May. Our room was clean and it had 3 beds. I felt very comfortable in the hotel as we had to be buzzed in. The hotel staff could not have been any more helpful. It was close enough to walk to downtown (for... more

Hotel La Amistad

2 Jul 2009

Have been staying at the Amistad for a long time now. Prior to Matt it was owned by a German Ex-Pat named Wolfgang who befriended me at the time. I was wondering how it would be with a new owner and a lot of changes. I'm happy to say it has only become better with Matt the new owner. He... more

Very Roomy!

Posada Del Museo

1 Jul 2009

Our group stayed in the Magnolia room. It was very roomy! It was very nice! The shower did not have hot water and it is next to a big window, but the window is frosted. The staff was helpful. There is an office with 1 computer. The breakfast was small (tea, orange juice, fruit, toast). We did not notice the... more

La Divina Comida

2 of 5 stars
Boston, Massachusetts
30 Jun 2009

I had enjoyed La Divina Comida last year and decided to visit them again when I went to San Jose on business for a couple of weeks recently. The food continues to be decent, but when compared to top-of-the-line establishments like Di Bartolo and Bacchus, or even the very attractive and moderately priced La Fabrica or Patagonia Wine Bar just... more
