We visited Merida in October 2009 with the explicit plan to travel on the cable car to find that it was closed for refurbishment. Went to Venezuela on our honeymoon and stayed for 3 nights in Casa Sol. Had read reviews in Lonely Planet but never expected it to be so good. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The Posada is well situated in Avenida 4 and it is a pleasant walk down to el Centro. The staff are fantastic, friendly and most of all, helpful.
