This hotel is located on the main square of Olite. Great for sightseeing and the pintxos scene at night but expect to have to walk a bit from your car as most of the centre is prohibited for cars. If you want to visit a small town in Spain, this is a perfect one (such a different expereince than just hitting the big cities like Barcelona and Madrid) and staying at a true 15th century castle was the perfect way to soak it all in. We stayed in the main portion of the castle and it exceeded our expectations.... more
We really enjoyed our stay at this Parador. However there seemed to be roadworks around the town and half of the signs to the Parador were apparently covered up... would have been nice to know this before trying to get there. We drove around in circles for about 20 minutes we finally asked for directions. We had to ask twice... more
A super little hotel in a marvellous location. Hotel: As might be expected for its price range, was a little basic but the rooms were well presented and clean. Good value. The hotel has its own restaurant (1st floor) and cafe (ground floor) - the latter very much a locals place and nothing glitzy or overly fancy (unlike nearby Parador).... more

The concept of the Parador hotels is amazing...but we found that the reality was sorely lacking. Perhaps this was because our room was not in the wing of the "castle proper" itself, but what seemed to be an added-on brick structure built with narrower doors etc. to resemble a castle. Fantastic location in beautiful city. Rooms where nice, service friendly, breakfast the best in spain! DON'T MISS the castle - it's amazing and ony 3 euro's to get in. Parking is a nightmare though, sso be prepared to wander around amlessly looking for spaces! more
I agree with previous review in every way - except we were there in Jan. 2005. The town was quiet, but we were content to nose around the castle. Our room, too, was in the old part of the castle. This parador in northern Spain is fantastic. It is your dream of castles in Spain. Stayed here September 2002.
