Serious pizza, I grew up in a town outside of U/I where we didn't have a pizza joint. After HS I moved to C/U and heard about PapaD's. This was 25 yrs ago, you couldn't go there and sit down. It was delivery only so remember the next time you go there to eat don't expect a future doctor, lawyer... more

I have stayed at The Avenue twice, most recently for a Christnmas shopping weekend/short getaway with my husband. The Avenue Is an excellent place to stay. Paul and Catherine have every detail of your stay covered. From the absolutely wonderful breakfast to the snack left for us in the evening to the wonderful room and atmosphere. this place is completely underrated. i'm from CHICAGO. i've eaten palermo's, giordano's, nick & vito's, all fresh and hot, and countless others (including danny's in garfield ridge-- plug!). this is some GOOD, REAL pizza. it's not a sponge-crusted, is-this-sausage, why-does-my-cheese-have-so-many-holes-in-it, chain-style pizza. this stuff is good, it's offered at a terrific price, and it's totally underrated. more
