Prejeans Restaurant

Personally, I believe this is the benchmark by which any other Cajun restaurant should be judged by. This place absolutely exudes flavor and authenticity that sets the standard by which any other serious cajun restaurant should aspire to. I've never had a bad experience here, and I only wish I had the opportunity to stop by again before too long.... more

Recently went to Prejeans. Some menu changes that eliminate some of their specialty dishes such as the "boudin balls" and many more. Very disppointed in this change. Doubt we will return as often.. more

While exploring the Cajun part of Louisianan, we bumped into two Belgian couples at a bed-and-breakfast. They planned a diverse 3 week itinerary covering the lower states. Clearly dedicated foodies, they were looking forward eating at Prejean’s. We had to try it too. The restaurant is located off the beaten path yet still just a few minutes away from the... more

We were here for the first time in March (2008). There was no live music since it was Good Friday, but the food was fantastic and we would definitely go back. The boudin balls were great, and the oysters were some of the best I've had ever. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Lafayette. more

My wife and I had breakfast here two mornings on our recent visit to Lafayette. Both times, the service and food were excellent. I had Eggs Benedict Arnold A French classic with an imaginary twist, creamy hollandaise laced with smoked tasso both mornings, very good. My wife had French Toast the first morning and Atchafalaya Rising an omelet stuffed with... more

The food was very good-- all of the usual Cajun fare including boiled crawfish. I had a shrimp po' boy, which was excellent. My wife had the catfish po' boy, which she also said was excellent. Our other friends had the boiled crawfish (boiled wih corn, potatoes, and onion in a spicy broth. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. By... more

I have to agree with "3 strikes and you're out." We (two of us) went to eat at Prejean's. It took us 45 minutes to get a table for 2. We ordered 2 gumbos and 2 entrees. The gumbo was ok, and I say ok because I am from Louisiana and have had MUCH better....but it wasn't disgusting. I had... more

If you're from out of town and want to try some authentic Cajun, you really can't go wrong with Prejean's. I'm from the area, and my friends and I can't get enough of it. The salad dressings are divine... try the eggplant pirogue, too. :) more

This is the real deal 'chere. Real Cajun food! On some nights they have a live band with Cajun music. The seafood is outstanding, even the frog legs and the alligator. If you are new to Cajun food be sure and try the Crawfish Boulletes (dressing balls) and the Crawfish Etoufee. The portions are large! Save room for the Whiskey... more

After a week long family vacation along the Florida coast spending lots of money for poor service and food, Prejeans was a very welcome change. We were in Lafayette only overnight but decided to try Prejeans for fun - even though it was a bit of a drive from our central Lafayette hotel. What a surprise! We had excellent service,... more

I was in town for business and stopped at Prejeans about 4 months ago and I'm still full. Not only was the food outstanding but the staff went out of their way to be kind. I ordered extra uncooked plates and they put them on dry ice and packaged it up so I could take it back with me on... more

Couldn't help but respond to the "Three Strikes" review. We live in Lafayette, and eat at Prejean's probably once a week or so. In 15 years, we've never been disappointed. Just fyi, the salad is not a mix, I've seen them chopping lettuce, carrots and tomatoes one day when the manager gave me a tour of the kitchen. As for... more

Good food and interesting place. THE FOOD (descriptions taken from menu) I had the Seafood Skillet Fondeaux for Two as an appetizer. Plump shrimp, crab and crawfish with fresh sautéed spinach drizzled with crab butter cream and topped with Jack cheese and baked bubbly. Served with garlic toast-bread was delicious. SOUPS: My wife had the Corn & Crab bisque and... more

My boss recommended this place to stop for supper on the road from Monroe to Houma, LA. Very cool, even if a little tourist-y. :-) They have live music, though we had to get back on the road before the music cranked up. They do have a webcam through their website though so you can check it out for yourself.... more

I gotta say, I love this place. I don't care what anyone else says. While I agree that the food can be overly rich and smothered with sauce, you just have to know what to order. The ribeye smothered with etouffee is one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, and that says a lot. I also enjoy the... more

We always try to give the benefit of the doubt. We have given Prejean's three chances to prove themselves and we have been disappointed every time. We had lunch there TODAY! Business was very slow yet we waited 45 minutes for a bowl of gumbo and it was cold! I did not complain to the chef because we did not... more
