I went to a friend's bridal shower here. The room was lovely and the service was good. The food was also very good, but a little on the cold side once I got it. We had the medallion of chicken and the baked flounder with lemon parsley butter. The Tiramisu trifle was awesome. I'd come here again for lunch or... more
This tea house is cozy and inviting. The upstairs is also an antique shop full of neat stuff, much to do with entertaining. I found a great Haviland china tureen at a decent price. The tea served here is Harney and Sons which is a good tea company -- all loose teas. I had the wedding tea and it was... more
Stayed at Sleep Inn this past weekend and was very satisfied with my room. Had a 2 room suite, with 3 queen beds. The 3rd queen bed in a seperate bedroom offered total privacy and the 2nd tv in that room was also a bonus. Room and linens were clean, and shower (no bath) was spacious. One disappoint was that... more
My new job required me to move to the DC area. The first part of my training was near the town of La Plata. Of all the hotels in the area this is the only one that had good reviews...and they earned them. The hotel is located right near the downtown of La Plata...(very cool little city), and everything is... more
If you want a burger and beer, you can't beat the quaint bar area or if the weather is nice, eat outside in the patio area. Either way the selections are plentiful and the food is excellent. If your looking for a night out for a special occasion, go next door to the restaurant. Certainly the finest cuisine in Southern... more
I made reservations for my husband and I for a nice Christmas Eve dinner. I had waited for a long time to go to Casey Jones and was excited that the time had finally come until we were seated. They seated us at a table not even big enough for a party of one, much less for a party of... more
This weekend we were returning from a trip to St. Clements and decided to stop at the Green Turtle with our kids. It was about 5:00 on a Sunday evening, and we thought the place may be packed and were hesitant to stop if that was the case. My wife and I had ate there once about 2 months prior... more
This Best Western was a very pleasant surprise. The staff was extremely professional and responsive to my requests. The room was immaculate and quite comfortable. The hotel itself was very convenient to some great restaurants and shopping. I will definitely stay here again, when I visit the area. more
This hotel is fine during the week but becomes party central on Saturday nights. We are working in the area so we are staying long-term so we have experienced 2 Saturday nights at the property so far. On October 20, 2007, several girls were running up and down the halls and letting doors slam. I called and was able to... more
We booked a two-bedroom suite. It was spacious and clean. The rooms were nice with a desk and small sitting area that included a couch. There was a clean working fridge, 2 TVs and all three queen beds had clean (and nice-smelling) linens. Staff was polite and friendly. The kids had free reign to explore and play. They liked the... more
We tried to cancel our reservation more than 24 hours in advance and were told that the policy is to cancel within 48 hours and that we'd be charged for the rooms. Of course, no one from the hotel indicated this 48 hour policy when the reservation was first made. We were told it was a 24 hour cancellation policy.... more
We felt safe here because it is across the street from the Sheriff's Department. Our room was clean and spacious. The man at the front desk explained available discounts when asked. The staff was extremely helpful when asked for places to eat and things to do. The room was quite a bit cheaper than what this site states at 69.99... more
Stayed at this Best Western when my car broke down in La Plata, MD. It was so nice I stayed for 3 days even after my car was fixed...VERY VERY CLEAN, professional staff. I stayed in a family suite, 1 bed room, 1 living room with a pull out couch..EVEN THE PULL OUT COUCH was comfy...I would recommend this hotel... more
We checked in to find the room dirty with half eaten food and coffee on the dresser and dirty linens in the shower and bathroom. We informed two cleaning men in the hallway, who did not speak english, plus we told the front desk. Only the food and coffee were removed, the dirty linens were not picked up. They next... more
Last evening my niece, nephew, 4 year old and 10 day old child were in the LaPlata Green Turtle. We were asked to leave when we complained about our food being cold and the plates were dirty. My nephew told our waitress and she got an attitude and said it was fine and the plates were stacked and they don't... more
We were on our way to BowieMD via Route 301 N from VA and were looking for a place to eat that wasn't a"McRestaurant". We literally took the first La Plata exit (MD 6) east in search of something different. We found The Crossing and were very pleased with their offerings. It was a warm summer evening June 30 and... more
I am a local in LaPlata, and Casey Jones is the nicest restaurant you will find in the town. There are restaurants in Waldorf, but this is the only good one in LaPlata. The prices are somewhat expensive, but the atmosphere is nice. I believe it is one of Washingtonion's best restaurants. more
