I was born and raised in Minnesota and recall visiting Itasca State Park when I was a young girl. I have pictures of my mother and grandmother crossing on the rocks. We stayed at the Douglas Lodge for our “mini-moon” (a.k.a. – short, local honeymoon), as my husband had never been to Itasca State Park. We stayed in one of the “rooms” rather than a suite - #8, which is at the lake end of the front of the building, so we had nice views from our two windows. The room... more
