Traveller Reviews on Okavango Delta

Audi Camp

4 of 5 stars
Johannesburg
5 Jan 2010

We stayed in a luxury en-suite tent at Audi camp which was very well kitted out. Beautiful view over the river with our own fireplace under the trees. A nice touch was the ice-cold filtered drinking water topped up in our room everyday. This was a great base from which we took a charter flight over the Okavango Delta, did... more

5 Jan 2010

Having spent a couple of weeks at amazing camps and service, I was very disappointing with my stay at Audi Camp. The staff were really not interested in helping my plan further despite the fact I made it clear I wished to spend another week in this country visiting the pans etc. I paid for the most expensive tent, but... more

Sandibe Safari Lodge

4 of 5 stars
Sydney, Australia
5 Jan 2010

Great place to stay if you want personal attention but don't mind sharing it with the bats. It's very open plan common areas where the bats hang in the roof. Food is excellent and wildlife viewing is superb. Saw cheetah, leopard, lions etc. Great bush lunch overlooking the wildlife. Mossies a bit of an issue but not too bad. The... more

Jacana Tented Safari Camp

4 Jan 2010

Even within the delta, each camp is in a slightly different environment - Jacana is in the Jao flats surrounded by water, so from the deck you can watch lion go after red lechwe splashing through the reeds. It is a cosy and compact camp, very welcoming, with delicious food that's a little on the lighter side compared to some... more

Little Vumbura

4 Jan 2010

Just to endorse other posters' descriptions -- this is the best of the best. Fantastic game viewing including the rare opportunity for a walking safari led by Sam and lion cubs playing, found by super-guide Rain. The hospitality was world-class in professionalism and at the same time warm and genuine. Delicious food at every meal and a jolly little bar. more

Chitabe Camp

4 Jan 2010

Chitabe is the only one of the four Wilderness Safari camps in Okavango we visited over the Christmas holiday that I would not wholeheartedly recommend. While the guiding and game viewing were spectacular, the hospitality was desultory and half-hearted. Totally unlike the staff at the other camps, those at Chitabe seemed to be getting by with the bare minimum of... more

Audi Camp

2 Jan 2010

We visited Audi Camp last december and did look forward to it. We booked excursions and stayed at the campsite. Unfortunately the facilities were very dirty when we were there. We avoided the toilets, they were terrible. Staff in the restaurant was pretty arrogant. Big difference after staying at planet Baobab for example. Nestdoor neighboor Crocodile Camp was very loud... more

Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp

5 of 5 stars
New York City, New York
20 Dec 2009

We spent 11 nights on different safaris; this was our first camp. First of all, Botswana should be part of anyone's safari itinerary! It's glorious! We arrived at an airstrip for a neighboring camp....a little disappointing. Check to see if Nxabega's airstrip has been reopened yet. The good thing about it is that during our 2 hour ride back to... more

Duba Plains Camp

11 Dec 2009

Lovely staff, lovely place in a verry wet envoirment. Duba Plains is different, different than al the other lodges we've visited in Botswana. The Rooms are ok, not briljant, but who cares, you'll be out in the wild almost all day. We were lucky on the last morning. Though we've seen lions and buffalo every day (3 day's), there was... more

Pom Pom Camp

8 Dec 2009

We stayed at Pom Pom Camp for three nights in Oct 2009. The staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Our family of four (2 boys aged 11 and 14) stayed in a family tent which was very clean and very comfortable. Loved listening to the hippo at night with one grazing outside our tent at 5am in the morning and... more

Audi Camp

Audi Camp was by far the best camp site I stayed at whilst travelling in Botswana. There is a pool, bar and restaurant. I had a very relaxing enjoyable time at this camp. The only thing I found offputting was the ogrinal looking stone wall showers as there was a massive dead spider hanging below the tap. more

Audi Camp

We previously did a 2 day safari with Audi camp and were very happy with the conditions etc. We have also used Audi camp in the past as a base camp. In October 2009 5 of us did a 5 day safari to Moremi / Savute and Chobe. The logistics of this safari were far poorer than previously and we... more

Macatoo Horseback Safari Camp

Everthing was brilliant, staff, facilities, Horses, Game...what can anyone more want. The food was really good, put on 3kg's but thats the price you have to pay..... more

Sandibe Safari Lodge

We traveled through Zimbabwe and Botswana and stayed at several lodges. We found the &Beyond owned and operated lodges to be far superior to the other places we stayed even though they were nice as well. Sandibe was the last stop on our trip and we stayed 3 nights. Each day my son was kept by Kalefe a member of... more

Eagle Island Camp

Most spectacular setting imaginable in Okeevango Delta. The Okeevango Delta is unlike any other safari location. It is like the amazon with its amazing frogs and touring by makoro canoe. There are gorgeous fish eagles, magnificent elephants, spectacular frogs as you canoe into the reeds, as well as elephants, hyenas, mongoose, baboons, monkeys, cervil, zebras, giraffe, impala... you name it... more

Audi Camp

You rent a tent and get service. That's basically the idea. Now, the tents are equipped with proper beds and electricity within a fenced area. Shared bathroom facilities works ok and are clean. I stayed in a deluxe tent so I don't know how basic the cheapest tents are. Good bar that also serves food. Excellent breakfast is included in... more

Sanctuary Stanley's Camp

22 Oct 2009

Having gone on several safaris, I now believe that the most important part is the quality of the guides and the guides here are the best. Plus this camp is on a private reserve so you can go off-road unlike others in a national park. The guides were not only incredibly friendly and warm but also found us an incredible... more

Kwara was our favourite camp of the three we stayed at (the others were Savuti Camp in the Linyanti area and Sandibe Safari Lodge). Kwara is by no means a luxury camp, especially when compared to the other two. The tents are still pretty good, though some updating would not hurt . The atmosphere in camp is pleasantly low key... more

Shinde Island Camp

17 Oct 2009

We stayed at Shinde at the end of our honeymoon. It was probably the camp we felt most at home, because of the great hosts Falie and Magda, and also because we had a great guide (Kione) who did not only have a lot of knowledge, but was also able to share it well (besides he had a great sense... more

WOW! We had stayed at Lebala 2 years ago (almost to the day), but what a transformation. The new elevated tents are absolutely gorgeous. The tents have a sliding screen door now (no more beat up zippers) that leads from your deck to your room. The sleeping area is roomy with a large comfy bed and has 2 chairs and... more
