Overall our experience at the Fern Lodge was nice. When I arrived I was expecting a more structured Lodge environment such as receptionist and suggestions on local events. But when we arrived there was a note on the door that the owners would catch up with us later that night. So we entered a beautiful home with no one there.... more

We own a home in the area and love to frequent the ice-cream parlor. The ambiance is unique and fun. There is also a very cute gift shop upstairs. The ice-cream parlor offers some wonderful sandwiches for lunch and dinner and all of the food is freshly prepared. The owner/chef, Bruce also usually has a soup special on the menu... more

The Fern Lodge was a wonderful retreat from our busy lives. The breakfast was amazing and Sharon was so accommodating to our every need. We enjoyed the lake located right on the property. We spent the afternoons basking in the sun and the evenings walking along the lake. I found it so welcoming to have Shadow and Hudson (the dogs)... more

Stayed here for one night en route from Montreal to Boston. Really nice rooms, we managed to peek at most of them. They are not as chintzy as they appear on the website and offer great comfort. We ate at the restaurant that was first class, good choice and good dishes at reasonable prices. The hotel over looks Friends Lake... more

We expected more for $275/night. While this B&B did have a nice setting on the lake and nice furnishings, it was the little details that got to us: dog hair on the breakfast napkins every morning, their child's toys strewn all around the lobby/great room, etc. I also strongly suspect that one of the breakfasts they served gave me food... more

A little too girly for me, but will recommend for those seeking quiet away from the mainstream. Menu here is not outstanding, but for the area is quite nice. Try the fishing on Friends Lake, some of the best in the Adirondacks. more

If you're visiting the Adirondacks and are looking for a quaint, charming restaurant, full of Adirondack charm, the Friends Lake Inn will not disappoint. Excellent service and rustic ambiance add to the experience, though beware of what I consider to be overpriced entrees. We tried the stuffed portabello mushroom + 3 cheese plate for an appetizer. Delicious. Their extensive (huge!)... more

The Fern Lodge is a wonderful accommodation which combines the warmth and intimacy of a fine b&b with the comfort of a deluxe hotel. The lakeside setting is beautiful;the rooms and common areas are well appointed and spacious; the breakfast is delicious. The owners are extremely gracious and went well out of their way to assure that our stay was... more

My husband and I took my mother here in August to celebrate her 75th birthday. (We apprised the Inn of this in advance, requesting a special birthday cake for the first night of our stay.) This was our second visit to the Inn (the last was a few years ago), and it was as wonderful or moreso than the first.... more

Had a lovely time at Friends Lake Inn. Would stay in the area again vs staying in the very commercial Lake George. Pros: Warm chocolate chip cookies delivered to the room Comfy bed Semi-private screened in balconies for all rooms Great wine list Trailhead to six+ hikes on property Beautiful bathrooms Wonderful, helpful staff Cons: NOT ON THE LAKE -... more

They might have opened the bistro before 2006, but i have had a camp on Friends Lake since i was born and we have always gone to the Inn to eat. The dining room is good, but expensive, but last summer we started eating in the Bistro. Great food, reasonably priced and can order the dining room specials. My family... more

This is a first class operation. The service is top notch - friendly, professional and knowledgable. The food is just wonderful and the wait staff is the best I've encountered - ever. Can't wait to return. more

This was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast and my fiancee and I had a fabulous time. Carl and Judy are the hosts and they are both so sweet and VERY hospitable. The house is well kept- clean and so quaint and cute. The house is also large and there is plenty of space. We booked late... more

I had originally booked this "mini vacation" for my husband and myself as a Christmas present for my husband (of course, me too) and, to my surprise, realized I had a coupon that I could use to deduct a substantial amount from the price of the room. I contacted the inn to find out if it was applicable and, to... more

We first found Friends Lake Inn on the web while we were planning a trip to Gore Mountain, NY. We struggled with finding lodging in the area, and came across a published advertisement and several reviews of the Inn. We booked our stay via the internet, only going on the pictures and descriptions listed. It was as if we were... more

My husband and haven't stayed at the Friends Lake Inn, but we did have dinner at the Friends Lake Inn restaurant a few weeks ago. The food was absolutely superb! Unfortunately, though, the service was really awful. The poor service started even before we got to the restaurant. That afternoon, my husband stopped in and asked to make a reservation.... more

My wife and I have been to the Friends Lake Inn three times now - we actually spent our honeymoon there. A fantastic inn - food to die for, a world class wine list that has won Wine Spectator's Grand Award a number of times, a cross-country ski lodge with miles of trails right next to the inn, and gracious... more

The place is OK, but nothing to write home about and there was nothing about it that would make us want to return or recommend it to a friend. Here's our short list of criticism: 1) The place is only a few yards off a 50 mph main road and an intersection, so the trucks and motorcycles etc slowing down... more

What a nice and relaxing place to stay while skiing at Gore Mt. Very unpretentious and pristine clean rooms. Breakfast was good and plentiful, but the coffee could have been better. The owners are a very nice local couple who will sit and chat with you if you feel like but will leave you alone if you are looking for... more

We stayed at Friends Lake Inn last fall and are returning again this year. What a perfect getaway inn. Gorgeous rooms, all with a view of the lake (just across the road) or their lovely little pond in the back. We loved hanging out in their delightful 'pub" and enjoyed the restaurant with excellent menu choices and wine list. The... more
