Hoffman House

If you have the menu down, this place is the best....ambiance cannot be beat....drinks are very good. This place has a traditional feel to it with their specialty butters in the little crocks to the poppy seed bread flats in their bread baskets and raisin bread too. French Onion Soup, be sure to ask for it crispy.... Pasta and Seafood... more

Mediocre at best. They used to have this really inappropriate bartender, Frank? Fried Dough in bread basket is a nice treat. A nice family restaurant.... more

Ugly Gus is a cozy place where one feels very much at home...somehow though, they paired their cozy feeling with the slightest touch of wanting to look your best when you go there...and the candles flickering in the dim atmosphere is great on the complexion.... Now, about the service, they seat you immediately and always with a smile. The service... more

While the service and atmosphere at this little slice of heaven in Kingston is a ten, the soup is beyond scoring..... I have tried almost all of them, although they keep trying new recipes, this soup is a meal and the bread served with it, makes it all the more decadent. If you eat in, they serve it in crockery... more

I stopped in a few times and the service is very good....casual but the food is anything but....gorgeous presentation and the owner, such a nice man, makes great eye contact...which is really appreciated....with this economy, people need to feel their indulgences are validated especially if we are supporting area businesses that we want to succeed. The salmon was insane....the grilled... more

They tried hard, but came up short. Really good bread, but they charge for it. House salad greens looked nad tasted as though they were from a bagged salad mix. House dressing was disgusting....thick green mixture that resembled pesto. Pizza dough seemed the same as bread, but the mushroom topping needed some work. Pasta portions were large. They would be... more

This was one of the nicest courtyards that I have ever seen. The staff was very professional and the hotels overall condition was nearly perfect. more

After a long flight and drive from Ireand we dropped into this hotel exhausted. Everything seemed brand new and I throw my hands up and say that the bed was the most comfortable in a hotel ever. They had a lovely big flat screen tv in the room. Everything about the place was above average. The price for a walk... more

I was a little hesitant about staying at this hotel, due to a large number of very low ratings on this and several other travel sites. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. The Skytop Motel seems to have been there a while-- it reminded me of a 60's era motor hotel, although it has been updated. It sits on... more

You get the best of both worlds when you come here, excellent food and excellent service. I come here often and have never had a bad meal or bad service. more

Rondout Inn

We loved staying at this historic inn. Our hosts, Larry and BC thought of everything to make this special occasion as nice as could be. Our great great grandfather had a home on this same street in the 1860’s. We were here for a family reunion celebrating 155 years in the United States. We will come again! Many Thanks, Doris more

My family stayed at this hotel for a weekend. While it is superior to the Motel 8 next door, it is still a modest, budget hotel, unfortunately at an upscale price. In this part of Kingston, there are few options and certainly none that would wow a sophisticated traveler. Unlike some other reviewers, we found the hotel clean and observed... more

My husband, 3 yr. old daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend. They refused to give us a triple A discount, stating that "we don't do that when the hotel is fully booked". What??? Meanwhile, they state on the AAA website that they value their "strong partnership" with Triple A. Yes, I can see that. Our small... more

We enjoyed fabulous French toast (made with challah and cinnamon) and the best bacon I've ever had at this local coffee house. The (non) menu is strange - there were just ingredients listed up on a board, plus a few normal-sounding items. Didn't seem to bother the locals - the guys at the next table were enthusiastically wolfing down some... more

We have been going to Michael's Diner for quite some time now and truly enjoy it every time we go. The food is excellent, the portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. The service is great and most of all, the owner treats us like family. If you haven't been to Michael's Diner yet, you are missing out on... more

Went there for a casual dinner with my husband, absolutely awful. If you don't order alcohol, your service is slow and terrible. Food was cold, but did not see wait staff for 1/2 hour after the food was served, so could not complain becuse nobody was around. Big tables and people ordering alcohol got great service, the typcial couple does... more

We stayed one night in this hotel and couldn't get out fast enough. We did not expect luxury, but we did not expect what we found. The list of problems goes on and on. The halls smelled of old smoke and the non-smoking room we were given had traces of stale smoke. The floor looked visibly stained or dirty. At... more

We booked 2 suites and 1 room through the hotel website for family members coming into town, and went to the hotel personally to give them the names of the various family members and to make sure that they understood we were picking up the rooms on our credit card. One family, who was supposed to get a suite because... more

We needed a quick overnight for our road trip. This was an open night not planned in case we wanted to go a different direction. Not much to choose from in brand names. Holiday Inn was convention center and they can be noisy and don't care about individuals. Hampton was too expensive. Quality let me check out the room -... more
