We have stayed here many years. The location suits us perfectly - in the middle of everything, but quietly secluded. Just out the back door of Knollwood House, we start our day with a walk on one of Pinehurst's most beautiful golf courses (you'll likely see Joe starting his day, too, walking the dogs!). Very nice area right by lots of resturants (Outback, Chili's, Chick-fil-A, TCBY, Bonefish, Starbucks, etc.)and shopping(Stein-mart. Belk, Michael's, Goody's, Best Buy, Ross) and newer movie theater (Sandhills Cinemas). We had a great little suite with a queen bed and pull out couch with kitchenette. We spent two lovely nights at the Jefferson Inn. When you walk into the lobby you feel like you've been transported back in time to the early 1900s. The Inn and the golf course are in a beautiful setting and the inn is very comfortable. Service, in all cases, was excellent! (I did have some items taken from a bag in my room. The hotel is still investigating this.) The bathrooms in the rooms are very tired and have a pedestal sink which doesn't allow room for toiletries.... more

Joe and Lyndee Radigan are wonderful hosts. They are very knowledgeable about the Southern Pines and Pinehurst area. The Radigans went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I came here for a company meeting. The golf course was in great shape. The rooms have been renovated, beds are comfortable and the food and service were excellent! Knollwood House is a lovely place to stay while visiting the wonderful Southern Pines area. The downstairs is quite elegant; the varying breakfasts delicious; and the bedrooms are large, comfortable, and quiet. Very solid choice. Has a bar with a pub menu separate from the actual dining room for the budget conscience. Food used to be in the 4 star range, but has fallen off a bit of late. Still high three stars, definitely won't disappoint. more
