We took a weekend away and chanced upon Bakalar Villas. There are a number of tatty-looking hotels that haven't evolved since the 1960's, and then there's Bakalar Villas. Rather than being on the water, it's on the opposite side of the street with stunning views of Laguna Bacalar. The hotel is very new and many rooms are still under construction.... more

I love this place! If I could move in and live here I would! Immaculate and accomadating! Fernando went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. The entire staff was kind, attentive and fun.
