I feel very sorry for a number of reviewers & for Sinead who runs the Club part of Castle Leslie quite expertly. We have stayed at the Castle & the Hunting Lodge. My belief is the options available are not clarified- 1. Stay at the Castle, no kids, communal table, no phones, no locks on doors, good food & OK... more

I came for the equestrian center and stayed at the Hunting Lodge 5 days at the end of July. It was great. My room (Frosty) was comfortable, spacious, quiet and in very good taste. My only remark is that they could add a few TV channels. The Brasserie was pleasant to dine at and the service very reasonable though I... more

As part of a large family on holiday, I arrived at Castle Leslie with high expectations. We were impressed with the amenities and activities listed on the website and it seemed like a great place for groups. Upon checking in, the accommodations were comfortable, rooms were large enough and clean. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The staff seemed overwhelmed... more

Castle Leslie does not live up to its image. My boyfriend and I have just returned from a stay at the Hunting Lodge in Castle Leslie and was not quite the experience I was expecting. The service here from start to finish is appaling, it is particularly bad in the restaurant. We had to ask for everything several times. The... more

my boyfriend and i decided to book a nights stay here as a last minute decision on July 13th. On arrival we were taken up to our room in the hunting lodge whgich was not yet ready (approx 4pm). we were then basically abandoned and were not advised as to what time our room would be ready or indeed if... more

We sent more food back to the kitchen than we ate it seemed. The first night at dinner we sent back three orders of prawns that arrived to the table raw; these orders were served a long time after the rest of the group had received their food. We were told that the restaurant "stole" the prawns and that new... more

I stayed in Castle Leslie in May 2008 and we stayed in Shanes Room. It is the most amazing experience i have ever had. It is as if you stepped back in time...the staff were lovely and very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner with Sir John Leslie and he told us stories from when he... more

We stayed in the hunting lodge last weekend. The room was very nice, with large bathroom and separate shower. The horse riding was very enjoyable, as was our experience of the spa and the whole stabling setup is very good but where this place falls down is the food and noisy atmosphere - it most certainly is not a relaxing... more

We stayed recently in the self catering Mews accommodation on the estate of Castle Leslie. Although you can walk to the hotel, returning by foot at night wouldn't be recommended, but a local taxi can be arranged. The accommodation is of a very high standard and we liked the fact that the mews are a little out of the way,... more

I stayed here in May 08 as part of a corporate event of twenty people. I absolutely loved The Club at Castle Leslie. It really is the real deal in terms of staying at an old Castle / Great old house. The house is being lovingly restored and is truly authentic. The antiques and artwork are quirky and interesting. The... more

Having had a previously disappointing stay in Castle Leslie, I decided that it deserved a second chance and my partner and I stayed there on Sunday Night , May 11th. We stayed in the Club at the Castle itself and on arrival were met at the door and escorted to our room. It was enormous with amazing views over the... more

A group of 18 family and friends went to Castle Leslie for my 40th birthday. We booked 2 self catering cottages, well cottages were not the correct description, they were mansions! The self catering accomodation is located in the village 3-4 minutes walk from the hotel complex which is in the castle grounds. Our cottages well extremely well stocked with... more

The quality of the Spa treatment was superb but the music played in the main waiting area was far from soothing and in fact was better suited to a bar – when I raised this on the Sunday with one of thestaff in the Victorian Spa I was told that the therapists liked this music, full stop. The meal and... more

We visited Castle Leslie recently with a view to possibly booking the place for our wedding. We were made to feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were unhelpful and not very friendly. The lady who showed us around spent most of the time telling us all the things we could not do if we reserved the castle... more

My partner and I booked into the Casle Leslie cookery school for the Guilt Free cookery one day course and really enjoyed it. The day was taken by the head chef Gerry, as there are some changes as the Castle is in between executive chefs. Gerry was very informal and helpful. He had a nice attitude to cooking - improvise... more

My husband treated me for my birthday to a Saturday night stay at the Hunting Lodge Castle Leslie, the "Equine Reward" package - bed, breakfast, dinner & ride (various options available eg cross country, hack, or lesson). The rooms are all individually named, we were staying in "Saphire" and it was really nicely decorated with a huge comfy bed, flat... more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights after our wedding. The positives were: the fabulous grounds the impressive room (we were in the red room) the dinners - the best I've ever had. The negatives were: the breakfast - woeful very uncomfortable mattress price (considering how uncomfortable the bed was). I would return for dinner but not to... more

Stayed in the new village homes just released. Operated by the Castle Hotel (Hunting Lodge) there are 4 & 5 bed homes available. Top Class fit out and everything supplied. Situated at one end of village with hotel at the other. The hotel provides excellent bar/restaurant/spa facilities. Enjoyed the village pubs, walks and people. Village shop is well stocked.
