Sunnymeade Country Hotel

Too angry to go into too much detail as other negative reviews seem to say it all but I hope by posting this review on this site that it may deter others from being treated as we were. Unfriendly host...although male proprietor to be fair did seem ok,Female host was not and did everything to make our stay difficult. We... more

Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park

3 Nov 2008

We booked a short break direct through their website and paid £275 for a 5 night break - Mon - Fri 27th-31st Oct 08), which I thought was pretty reasonable for half term week. The caravan was ok, carpets clean and bedding smelled fresh, kitchen also relatively clean. Bathroom could have done with a good scrub as there were still... more

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at this Hotel with our two dogs. The rooms were great and the food fantastic. Particularly important is the presence of a fully fenced 1/4 acre outdoor area on the premises where the dogs can be exersised and taken to for a late night or early morning run. The hotel is... more

I took my then 7 year old son for a much needed short break and booked the Estoril caravan as it was the perfect size for us, when we arrived it was very clean in every room the bathroom was spotless too. I've been staying at the park for a good few years and would never go back if it... more

We stumbled over The Electric during a morning visit from Croyde to Woolacombe........ it was so good we went back the next morning. Actually we even went back the morning after that only to be dissapointed as it was a Monday and was closed. This place serves a fabulous Full English Breakfast using the best ingredients. The girls fell in... more

The Fortescue Arms

28 Sep 2008

On arrival, it seemed ok, bar area looked welcoming, staff ok but not overly welcoming. Rooms, where do i start; old fashioned, with a very squeeky bed, very cold damp feeling although there was an electric heater in the room, TV situated too high on wall and at the wrong angle to watch also reception wasn't brilliant. There was a... more

We were looking for a hotel that would suit our 1-year old as much as us - we found it in the Woolacombe Bay Hotel. This hotel is in a fab location in a lovely bay, overlooking the beach, views of Lundy Island.... The grounds and golf course are well-maintained and tidy, the kids playground is really good and there's... more

The Fortescue Arms

Food was very good but the very young waitresses lacked training on how to serve customers. The room was very basic with an old bed that squeaked with every move. The television was fixed high up on the wall and after every 5 minutes had to be retuned,it was also hard to see as there was nowhere to sit without getting... more

The Golden Coast Holiday Village

28 Sep 2008

On arrival we were given what can only be discribed as a 'shameful' house. We went straight back to upgrade and then we were given a lovely Villa. The site itself is really nice with lots to do for everyone and the site isnt far from loads of attractions and woolacombe bay itself is really nice, though give Ilfracombe a... more

Twitchen Holiday Park

Booked a caravan on the net. Watched a video of the van, and booked. Wanted a top class van which was new. Just wanted to relax for the week. Arrived at Twitchen house in Wollacombe. Site was fine. The van was the pits!! It smelt and was not the same as the video we had watched on their website. We... more

Do not use Choice Cottages to book holiday accommadation in Devon as the pictures attached will show you the standard you can expect. The accommadation in question is Little Quest in Woolacombe. We have just returned from a one week stay and found the bathroom to be utterly disgusting. The bathroom clearly has a damp issue and the bath has a... more

We have eaten (Dinner/Evening Service) at The Electric a number of times on our visits to Woolacombe now, and have always found it to be the best place to eat in the village. The cool ambience and relaxed nature of the staff is what makes this place - no pushy waiter/waitresses ushering you in and out the door. The menu... more

The Narracott Hotel

What an appalling hotel. Very first impressions were good - covered car park, nice reception area, then it just went down hill. A couple were already at reception when we arrived who had been there for some time waiting for someone to appear. After five minutes of shouting for someone, telephoning the hotel and then finally asking at the bar,... more

We stayed at this park from 29.08.08 to 01.09.08, I would not recomend it to anyone! I have complained directly to them by fax and also to the South West Tourism Awards people, whom they state they have an award from. These are the problems we had, it appears we are no alone in these, so wish we'd looked here... more

The Narracott Hotel

What an appalling 'hotel'. Yes, the foyer may be nicely refurbished and the staff friendly BUT the rest of the hotel is a dive. After walking what seemed like an age to get to our room - there's lots of stairs and corridors and then more stairs - it was like being thrown back in time. It could do with... more

Difficult to know where to start ! Following a 5.5 hour journey and arriving at what we believed to be our destination, we were cheerfully advised by a receptionist that we were, in fact, at the wrong park. It appeared that even though a large sign outside of the entrance of the park boldly displayed the name of the park... more
