Always like to do some net based research beforehand, and this place stood out on Arran. Not least because as a solo traveller on this occasion, they did single rooms at exactly half the normal rate and of nice standard - with an offside view of shore. Decided to try PHT out having read something about it on net before my first visit to Arran last week (stayed at Glenisle Hotel in Lamlash). Although little unpreposessing to look at, the delicious home cooked meals and pleasant friendly service were fantastic. Would strongly recommend the Arran steak and ale pie - shortcrust pastry better than my mother could... more
