We were in NZ for a family touring holiday in Dec 09 and sampled a wide range of accomodation - everything from basic cabins to 4.5 star resorts. Cook's Lookout was my family's nominated favourite. Lovely waterfront restaurant. Lovely menu, lots of fresh fish and oysters which appealed to my husband. I can not eat fish, but there were also lamb, beef, chicken and venison dishes as well. A very welcoming and homely guesthouse with excellent breakfasts and refreshments, great home cooking. Marilyn provided splendid advice on where to go and what to see ...when. We would consider staying nowhere else in Russell. more
