Roche Harbor is a step back in time and so is McMillan's Dining Room. It has an old resort feel from the 50s. And it's the perfect locations for watching the sunset over the harbor. It's a bit pricey but the food is wonderful. If you are visiting Friday Harbor, making the trip over to Roche Harbor is definitely worth... more

We stayed in Friday Harbor for a couple of days and drove over to see Roche Harbor while there. It started out life as a company town, with accommodations and retail all provided for the folks working for the Roche Harbor Lime and Cement Company. The land has all thus always been privately owned and is now being developed with... more

The only place to eat dinner in Roche Harbor, thank goddess it's fabulous! The salt-cured prime rib was soooo good and paired perfectly with a perfect bombay martini. The next night was a huge scallop plate w/various aolis..and there were more appetizers, wines, and a creme broulet sampler desert. It was heaven. Plus the dark wood ambiance, attentive service and... more

I must admit we were nervous once we booked this hotel and then read reviews on several websites and travel books. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The location is wonderful, overlooking the harbor with wonderful gardens right in front of the hotel. The staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful. We had rooms that were classified as... more

Thanks to another reviewer we had a delightful breakfast at this little cafe we would never have found otherwise. It was not listed in the phone book. You will find it out on the pier at Roche Harbor at the other end of San Juan Island from Friday Harbor. I don''t recommend the House Strata which was a little weird,... more

Really a terrific place. The rooms are authentic and immaculate, the floor is appropriately uneven, and the shared bathroom is nicer than anything I've ever lived in. Roche Harbor is a much nicer place to stay than Friday Harbor, and this is the best spot from which to go whale watching. I wish we'd taken a boat from here rather... more

The Hotel de Haro definitely is beautiful. From outside, it looks lik an old movie set. You can absolutely imagine that you're in the early 20th century, visiting with Theodore Roosevelt. Inside, the place is a little shabby. We stayed in a small room with a beatiful view of Roche Harbor. There are 2 bathrooms per floor (Mens and Womens)... more
