The Waikola Beach Marriott was the perfect spot for eight family/friends to stay for 6 nights - much more beautiful than the brochures! Our room (4th floor - ocean "view") was perfect - spacious, bed extremely comfy, bathroom well-appointed, big lanai overlooking pools and out to the ocean. I have read some of the negative reviews about this hotel, and am surprised. 1. Some claim it was understaffed, there is a recession going on and Hawaii has been hit hard and hotels are no where near full, why keep a full staff. 2. It was expensive. Then vacation on the mainland. Go to Florida it is cheap. 3.... more

I thought this hotel was going to be very expesive, but it was reasonable when compared to the area around Waikoloa. My wife was very pleased with the service. I'd recommend getting there for happy hour if you are looking for normal prices on drinks. more
