I have been a camper and a backpacker for over 30 years, and this was the worst campsite I have ever had to spend a night in. The so-called tent sites were mostly on a hill, strewn with gravel and debris from other campers. I would think that tent sites, not being able to self-level, would benefit from being on... more
We ate here one day for lunch and the next day for dinner, each time was fine. If you chose to eat here dining outside on the back patio is a must. Right up next to the hillside and quaint. Dining inside was a bit uncomfortable simply because it was confined to a very small room with tremendous acoustics. There... more
Having read the other reviews of the Secret Six Tavern I would offer that it is not a fine dining establishment, and remind everyone that this is a tavern in a tourist area. You get cold beer and decent food at a decent price. You are on vacation, come in, sit down, have a beer and a burger and take... more
Four of us stayed for 3 days in September 2008. Our rooms were very well kept, comfortable, and spacious. Each room had an attached bathroom were also comfortable and spacious. We ate breakfast each day of our stay; the meals were shared in the dining room. Breakfast was warm and friendly, and prepared from scratch. The inn has a media... more
I have stayed at this hotel with my family or friends on a yearly basis since 2005 and have always had a good experience. Our last stay was the first week of September 2008. If you will be visiting the National Park or using the services or River Riders, this hotel is an ideal location. If you are visiting Charles... more
We booked this Comfort Inn because we really could not find too many other area hotels. The room was pretty dirty - unvacumed toe nail clippings next to the bed... The air conditioner was noisy and the bathroom tiny. The complimentary breakfast was some cereal, a couple of bagels and some decent waffles. But a couple of waffles did not... more
Our stay at the Jackson Rose was peaceful, enjoyable and without any problems. Phil & Deb appear to have found their niche, offering spacious, nicely furnished rooms, wonderful breakfasts and spaces to relax in. After a 12-mile hike on Saturday, the fresh lemonade and cookies waiting in the foyer were to die for!!!! We would not hesitate to recommend the... more
Waitresses attitude was comical. When we entered at lunchtime she was at the bar and just turned a blank stare at us. No smile and no greeting. Wordlessly lead us to a table. I asked for a beer they had displayed and she told me they were warm. Period. No "how about such and such", etc. We all ordered sodas.... more
I stayed there while passing through Harpers Ferry and it was a great place with a beautiful SEPERATE house for my stay all by myself. The view on the front porch is great with a wonderful pond. I would recommend this place to anyone who is passing through Harpers Ferry and is looking for a clean place with exceptional breakfast... more
I first became acquainted with Bryan Kelly a few years ago when I used his fishing guide services in conjunction with a business trip to DC. I have been fishing with him since. This year I included my wife in the business trip and the fishing, and we lodged at the Kellys’ B&B, the Angler’s Inn. My wife and I... more
Many other tables seated after us were served before us, and I began to take notice of the many flaws with which this place is run. As a former fine dining server, bartender and front of the house manager, I feel qualified to point out where the problems arose... 1. The servers have no sections. They had tables from one... more
My husband and I and our two children (aged 12 and 18) enjoyed a short but lovely stay at the Jackson Rose B&B last night. This historic inn has been beautifully restored. We had the third floor suite under the eves, and it could not have been more charming or comfortable. The room was very clean, well decorated and thoughtfully... more
We went twice in the same month, which should tell you how much we liked it. The Inn is charming, but has all the modern conveniences -- and the old fashioned convenience of fresh cookies in the afternoon and a gourmet breakfast each morning! Staying here is a little like having your own country home. You can rock on the... more
Stayed here with husband and teenage son primarily for central location for Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, and 2 queen beds in the room (not easy to find!). We found it to be excellent location, just two minutes from Harpers Ferry Nat Park visitors center and 2 minutes from our rafting outfitters, too. Charles Town races just 10 minutes down the road.... more
My husband and I stayed for my birthday and met another family member there. We were the only guests, and Deb treated us like family. Scumptious breakfast, comfy beds, and an easy walk down to all the interesting parts of Harper's Ferry. more
We stayed at Camp Hill Inn the weekend of 7-18-08. We arrived at Camp Hill around 6:30pm that evening and Tony the Innkeeper met us promptly with a smile. He was responsive and helpful in recommending local attractions during our stay. Our stay was great! I would highly recommend the blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs. The chipped beef on toast... more
We stayed overnight after a long day of visiting historical sights. Before bed, we decided that we would put in a little workout at their on-sight gymnasium. The "Gymnasium" as it turns out was a 10x12 room with an old Nordic Track (ski machine, which I wasn't even sure worked), a very old treadmill, a stationary bike with a broken... more
This was only our third experience with a Bed and Breakfast. I would say this one fell short of the quality we have experienced at others. On the plus side, the views were beautiful overlooking the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers and the lower town railroad tracks that are wonderfully active in the late afternoon and evening. The... more
It was a nice stay. The B&B is located on the main street that leads to the historic center. The owner is gracious, breakfast is nice (although way too spiced with all sorts of spices). The room was well apointed and very clean. more
