My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at the end of August. Comfortable living next to fabulous natural beauty. The room was fine- appears newly renovated. Very quiet, peaceful. No reason to stay elsewhere (unless you are fishing every day) as all the other options are 8 miles away and the hiking, whale watching and kayaking is right there.... more

I should have written before now, but I recommended this place to some friends, and they just got back and raved on and on, so I am writing now. Last August (2007) 3 of us women friends traveled around Alaska, and this place was our favorite. We stayed in the 2 rooms upstairs that shared a bath in the hall.... more

Our shampoo dispenser remained empty from the day we arrived to the day we left, even though I told the front desk twice. Trash was not removed. The shuttle to/from Gustavus 10 miles away is not complimentary, not even the airport pick-up, not even if you're staying at the lodge. It's $12.xx per person each way - so trips to... more

Stayed for one night which was our first night in Alaska. Staff was very friendly, had a cabin type room with 2 beds which was a little dated but clean and comfortable. Really liked restaurant because food was good and staff actually cared. Food was not processed crap. There was wireless internet I think in the lobby only and the... more

I love going to Glacier Bay Alaska. We have made it our yearly family trip. Glacier Bay Country inn gave us our best experience, we felt like part of their family. The food was amazing and we loved how all the meals were included in our stay. It was neat getting to know the chef and he would give us... more

My husband and I stayed at the Lodge for four nights starting on 29th July 2008. Barlett Cove is better than staying in Gustavus as you are right in the place to enjoy nature, you don't have to be driven to the park every morning as you are living in it, besides Gustavus is just a bunch of B&B and... more

Gustavus, Alaska is the "gateway" to Glacier Bay National Park, and the Blue Heron is a wonderful place to experience the wild beauty of this area and also to get to know the "town" and its people. It is a hidden gem within a hidden gem and so is extra special. We were a family of four and by the... more

My wife, son, and I stayed three nights at the Glacier Bay Lodge at the end of July, 2008. The lodge rooms, which are in cabins away from the main lodge, are very pleasant for a national park setting; they were much nicer than rooms in lodges at Glacier National Park or Mt. Rainier National Park. Of course, there are... more

This is a charming bed and breakfast in the wonderful town of Gustavus. Gustavus is where you go if you are going to Glacier Bay National Park. I highly recommend staying at a B and B in gustavus instead of staying at the more touristy glacier bay lodge and after having been on the island for four days, I really... more

My wife and I stayed at Inn for our anniversary. We live in Southeast Alaska and have long wanted to go to Gustavus and stay at the Gustavus Inn. We finally made it this year and were not disappointed. David and Joann, the inn keepers are dedicated to making each of their guests stay the best possible. Dave's parents started... more

Glacier Bay Lodge is one of the best National Park Properties I have stayed in. From the moment I arried at Gustavus Airport aboard my Alaska Air flight, I felt pampered and welcomed at the lodge. Everything at the front desk went like clockwork. Everything was ready for my arrival--even the keys and paperwork were in order so checkin was... more

I chose to stay in Gustavus to be away from the tourist crowds and the cruise ships. I wasn't disappointed. Deb and Charlie go the extra mile to make sure their guests have a great Alaska experience. They provide a tremendous breakfast with hand rolled oatmeal, omelette's, berry pancakes, French toast and fresh fruit. And the coffee is the best... more

We called Growley Bear and made a reservation which was confirmed at the time of the call. We then called back the next day just to double check because we knew that most places in Gustavus had booked up. The reservation person, Julie, called back and confirmed again that we had the reservation for the dates we asked for. A... more

The food is a knock out, especially considering how far away you are from anything. The staff is wildly friendly to boot. I wanted to take the bakery chef (also the dessert chef) Michael with me when I left, but then I'd turn into a sphere. The lodge itself is nice looking, but not utterly spectacular -- depends what you're... more

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at the begining of July 2008, had a great stay. Paid a bit more for a 'room with a view' but it was money well spent, views were spectacular. Room itself was functional but fine, more than did the job especially bearing in mind the location - 2 double beds, nice bathroom... more

We stayed at the Glacier Bay Country Inn for 4 nights in June, 2008, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Most outstanding were the warm, accommodating staff, whose motto is, "We will do whatever it takes to make your time with us wonderful." They arranged our boat cruise on the bay, sea kayaking trip, and whale watch, plus provided transportation to our... more

We just returned yesterday from the Glacier Bay Lodge after a fabulous camping/kayaking trip with Alaska Discovery. The Lodge was just what we needed. The setting is gorgeous. It's on Bartlett Cove, surrounded by lush forest. The deck looks out over the cove where you can see a few sail boats gently bobbing on the water, with forests and snowy... more

I've been to alot of places and this ranks up there with some of the best scenery I've seen. This is a "must go" place. As far as the lodge the food was great. It was my best eating i've ever had. The chef was amazing, I even gained nine pounds in 5 days. Staff was great and very organized... more

An AMAZING Alaskan Experience. Accommodations were extremely clean and comfortable. Both the lodge and the small cabins are beautiful and have a cozy bed and breakfast feel. The property is kept beautifully clean and is nestled in the middle of the Gustavus southeast Alaskan rain forest with beautiful meadows of wild flowers on one side and thick green mossy woods... more
