Parador de Zafra

Stayed at this Parador in late March 2008. The weather was a bit cold and breezy. Our room overlooked the square at the front of the parador and was very good. The other areas of the parador were excellent as it is a grand old building which has been well restored and has excellent central courtyard. The highlight of the... more

Zafra is a small Spanish town of just over 15,000 residents. It retains a certain charm while still feeling lively and active. The Parador, as you probably know, is a former 15th century castle. The rooms, however, are decidedly 21st century. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Our room did not have the most scenic view (interior courtyard), but it provided... more

We were travelling south toward Andalucia and needed a stop-over which left us a relatively short run on the following day to Ronda. This is a converted monastery with a delightful courtyard in which we had dinner (see photographs). The hotel has a sizeable swimming pool behind the hedge on the street side. Parking is in the square for which... more

The castle is now the parador, with the name of Hernan Cortes. It has ample parking in front of the building. Our room was good. The patio was the former courtyard, and is impressive in size and style, because it has the style of the renaissance. The form is square, with graceful arches built over columns. This arcade continues to... more

The Huerta Honda is an excellent hotel , opposite the Parador in Zafra. It is a traditional old Spanish hunting lodge with an internal patio which is wonderful to sit and have an early evening drink. We have stayed there a couple of times and think that it has a better atmosphere and is better value than the Parador. The... more

A spacious parador in an exquisite building in a delightful town. A good dining experience was only marred by the open warfare between the maitre d' and the overworked auxilliary staff. That buns weren't thrown was a triumph of exhaustion over exasperation. By the end of the meal, which was delightful, we had managed to extract a smile from both... more

A wonderful hotel - where else can you take a trip up to see your hotels 14th century battlements - with a perfect courtyard, antique furniture, comfortable rooms, charming staff and a good standard of food in the restaurant. Zafra is a small but delightful town. more

Next to the Parador de Zafra, this hotel is nicely decorated, with good buffet breakfast and excellent price. Traveling from Caceres to Salamanca, we decided to spend the night at Zafra´s Parador, which is highly recommended. There was no availability there but were not uptset at all at staying at this hotel. The only available room was the royal suite... more

My wife, 13-year-old daughter and I were traveling around Spain by car and happened to stop in Zafra for the night. We stumbled across the Parador and almost didn't inquire there as we thought it would be too expensive. As it turned out it may well have been the most unique and memorable hotel we've ever stayed at. As stated,... more

We had a lovely stay in the monumental Parador at Zafra with our 3 kids. We had a terriffic lunch of tapas in the marble courtyard - one of the dishes "tosta de anchoas" was memorable. Each Parador we stayed in was unique and interesting and Zafra did not dissapoint. Highly recommended. more
