I think the uniqueness of this property is location. Its bang on Tarkarli beach.A real serene and virgin beach located in south west India.A stretch of about 5 kms of white sand.this resort has unique boat shape room accomodaion and house boats in backwaters also.If you are lucky you can spot dolphins from the house boat. The highlight is excellent, spicy malvani... more

I had worst experience of receptioniest. We friends reached there in evening and checked for room availability. A leady receptioniest was there. As we asked about kokan houses' tarrif, she replied you can't afford them. Such a rude answer. We were very angry with such a welcome but were so impressed by beach view. we searched for similar view in... more

We have just returned from our trip to the southern part of Maharashtra, Tarkarli. I did a lot of search through the internet three weeks prior to my departure and shortlisted many of the hotels published, unfortunately could not find accomodation at the MTDC, so finally called Mr. Ghanshyam Kubal of Saagar Beach Resort, my question to him was plain... more

Gajanan is a good hotel, but only for stay. Tarrif is little cheaper than MTDC. Rooms are spacious, clean. The room service is also good. The Tarkarli beach is 5min walk from the hotel. But food is not that great. If you want to enjoy home made sea food, I would recommend Swami Samarth hotel which is hardly 1min walk... more

In Tarkarli the best view and hotel is undoubtedly the MTDC resort. It is on a great location.Well thats about it, you CANNOT swim on the beach outside the resort as the sea is too dangerous! One needs to go down further towards malvan to find a stretch of beach where you can swim. Why have a resort on the sea... more

I & my wife had gone to tarkarli in the month of december , 2005 just after our wedding & saw a very neat & clean beach, clear water , lots of starfishes on the beach & a lighthouse at the left side of the resort. the waters were not rough, the resort had a boat as the manager's office,... more

Tarkarli was my dream destination from last two years. I was very much fascinated after looking the brochure of Tarkarli from MTDC. I had collected lots of information about Tarkarli and other places near Tarkarli. My intention visiting Tarkarli was to see the Konkan coast, eat lots of fish and Sol Kadhi, Snorkeling and see the Sindhudurg Fort. I had... more

The beach is one of the cleanliest i have ever seen. The MTDC resort location is amazing - it is right on the beach. The resort is old but clean. It is not luxurious but satisfactory in terms of rooms, toilets & other facilities. The food is delicious.Pl try prawns fry, pomfret tikhal(Local malvani dish).Even veg food is tasty at the resort. However, the service... more

We had read a lot about the ambitious "Houseboat" project of MTDC and went eagerly to spend a night on their houseboat which has a viewing balcony (the other one doesn't have one). The houseboats had just started operation 2 days ago and there were few problems like improper stable access to the boat, toilet flush not functioning, inadequate water... more

From Pune, negotiating a way to Tarkali can be difficult and bruising. We took the State transport Bus to Malvan, 11 hours, the only bus that took us anywhere near. The only other option would have been taking a volvo towards Goa and getting dropped off around 30 km short of Malvan or the slightly more complicated option of a... more

There was nothing on Tripadvisor about Tarkali when we were doing our research, so will try to give a reasonably comprehensive outline of the place to help others in future. MTDC stands for Maharashtra Tourist Development Corporation, but we think that the D really stands for Destruction – this place could be perfect, but is badly run. Location: The resort... more
