I loved this place. Our room was large and very comfortable, the location interesting. And of course there are the chimps. It was interesting to stay at a location that takes its eco credentials seriously. Were talking compost toilets and solar energy. No in-room electricity, no mini bar, no tv. So if these are essentials this is not the place... more

We stayed at Sambiya when visiting our daughter and her family in Uganda. We came for the game drive and were not disappointed - it was the highlight of our trip. We picked Sambiya because there was a pool for the kids, which they enjoyed, even though it could use some renovation. (Cape buffalo drink out of it at night... more

The service was magnificent from the moment we arrived until we left. The room was quite small, but lovely with a shower / bathroom, which was up to european standards. the location was superb. The river Nile, the closeness to the savannah, it was fantastic, we never wanted to leave. Having a young child (4 yrs old) was perfect at... more

Liked best: location overlooking Nile River; wildlife; pool with swim-up bar. Liked least: rooms could be too warm, esp with mosquito netting. Need to know: Electrical power is off at specific times, like from 1am to 5am. more

This place has so much going for it. Beautiful, isolated, wild location (baboons, warthogs monkeys etc can be seen and heard) clean and spacious bandas (insect free!), camp fire, pool and large bar. But I cannot recommend this to any one due to the disgusting food. Dinner and lunch was inedible and the majority of our group became ill afterwards.... more

My wife and I were in Uganda principally on business, but we had a 4-night/5-day stretch to do something, and we headed for Murchison Falls since that is said to be the best ‘all-around’ park. We decided to stay at Sambiya River Lodge, and then ended up booking an Afri Tours and Travel package. It was one of the best... more

The Acholi Inn is renovating a back, multi-storey section, and put myself and my travel companions in it during a recent business trip. They are trying, but the results are very unimpressive. The furniture is either way too big or way too small, the bathroom fixtures the same -- giant sink unit so large you can barely open the door,... more

Stayed at Red Chilis, fine meals and ambiance. They have a safari camp, and also a hostel in Kampala - good place to stay the night before as trip leaves 8 AM. $170/person for 3 day minivan adventure is a deal. You can drive up there as well, though road full of holes, to say the least. Bunches of animals... more

Up at 7am in Kampala. No hot water. Should have known if there's no hot water in the capital it's downhill from there. Breakfast is fine, hit the road with Emma, my guide. Start the trip off with an 8 hour drive. Boring right? No. It was an 8 hour roller coaster/fun house. First hour or two were in town... more
