Panareo Masseria

2 Oct 2008

We had done a vast amount of research on Masseria in Puglia before travelling there, and due to a mistake when trying to figure out where Panareo was (I thought it was north of Lecce rather than 1500m from the sea - don't ask!), we had ruled it out as somewhere to stay in. This was unfortunate, as when we... more

Masseria Montelauro

What a place! Wonderful. Great staff always there to help you, fantastic location, in the country but 10 minutes away from Otranto town centre. The building is an ancient masseria totally refurbished with the highest standard and taste. The rooms as simple but with an elegant touch. We loved the breakfast either inside or outside under the patio. The garden... more

Club Med Otranto

I read the bad reviews before we went and I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are good with nice decor and excellent air conditioning. The sport is fine and typically well organised. The Ranch area is delightful with it's quiet pool and muslin curtains wafting in the breeze. The Creek is interesting and a great place to snorkel. But the... more

Hardcore animation like "ua, ua, Otranto ..." all day and night (until 3am) with no room for relaxation, free dancing or free evening fun. Bad food in a terrible restaurant. If you are not willing to pay that fortune for cheap alcohol and cheap foam partys, do not go! We love to dance and have fun, but it was just... more

I have been to Apulia - Salento this july on holiday with my boyfriend. we booked a couple of hotels on internet and altought 2 of them were absolutely fantastic and exactley as described on the web page - one was an absolute nightmare and the images on internet were completely misleading. we booked 4 nights at this BB in... more

The Papaleo family's restoration of its historic palace just of the histortc cathedral square would be an unrivaled appearance based only on the accomodations and surroundings. The subtle opulence of decor, materials and setting create a true 5 star experience in the magical Salento, well worth the extra investment. But the staff and personal care I received created the true... more

We were looking for an hotel near Alimini lakes and beaches (they are the best beaches in the south of Italy) so we looked into tripadvisor and Bandino matched our plans. The Hotel is a lovely and recently renovated Masseria (fortified farm house) situated 1 km from Otranto (a nice seaside town) and only 10 min in car from Alimini... more

Wonderful little hotel. In fact it was a family mansion. Family run. My wife and I were cycling independently in Puglia and Basilicata for a month in June 2008. We booked hotels as we went along basing our choices on internet searches. This hotel has only 9 rooms and is run by the daughter Papaleo and her French born husband.... more

We stayed four nights at Palazzo de Mori in Otranto. It was just perfect. The location is in the historic center of the town facing the sea, but in a corner without extreme mass tourism. It's just a wonderful historic spot for recreation with a huge terrace. We had a modern superior room with a great view to the sea,... more

We stayed at this hotel during a tour of Puglia in June. Masseria Montelauro is a lovely place to stay. Montelauro was originally a monastery with working land aside it. Our room was in a small block to the left of reception on the ground floor with vaulted stone ceiling. It was furnished in simple style with wrought iron bedstead... more

Hotel Masseria Bandino

I saw good reports here on Masseria Bandino so decided to try it this weekend. Everything has been fine, the place is very quiet and my ground floor room (number 1) was large and nicely refurbished, though a bit dark. The personnel was extremely helpful (exp. Marilù), they also organized for us a bike rental with no need to go... more

I was looking for something different and excellent after a difficult year with my husband. My friend Margaret was continuing telling me to go to Otranto during the winter, like a Go West recall. She had a great experience last November for her 30th wedding birthday in an hotel right in the middle of the Old town. So I decided... more

last year I went in Puglia, down south in the heel of Italian boot for the new year. I was looking for lots of people but not too much, different people from my Paris, New York, Berlin and Munchen, Barcelona, London, Prag. In fact I was there one week from 23rd of Dicember to 2nd of January and I could... more

this hotel is a five stars hotel in the middle of the Old walls of Otranto. Different from everything else in here: masseria, 3 or 4 stars hotels, agritourism... We decided to let our other hotel to be in Palazzo Papaleo. A incredible location behind the Cathedral and next to the sea, a four languages staff and very efficient to... more

Was here with a group that rented the whole village just for us with only about 1/2 the maximum property occupancy so I think my opinion might be a bit on the bright side. Having been to 5 other Club Med villages in the US zone, this was my first Europe village. We were treated very well due to the... more

This is a 3 star hotel that will be renovated to a 4 star hotel this winter. I stayed in a really large room very comfortable but a little bit run down. This was truely one of the worst places I've gone on holiday. The rooms were very small, the noise was over the top and for the price, it was not worth the time spent. The grounds are beautiful and the location ideal. So what went wrong with the planning? more

This is a fantastic hotel. We will definitely be going back. the staff are attentive, the rooms are fabulous and spotlessly clean, the food was awesome.... its a very peaceful hotel, a place to truly relax. The owner lives in an annex of the hotel and can be seen everyday making sure that things are how they should be. Excellent. more

Do you want to know what it feels like to be truly ripped off? at close to 400€ (yes, you read it well) a NIGHT for 2 persons, you get the most expensive 1 star hotel in the world! Rooms are precisely 6sq m (I measured because I hadn't seen anything so small before), and the tiny bathroom is outside... more
