Stayed at Pesca Maya Dec 5-12 2009. First the only bad part...the drive from Talum to Pesca Maya. It's a 1 1/2 hr ride on a VERY bumpy dirt road. This is a wonderful set of little houses, cabinas and tent sites, in a beautiful spot, run by a truly remarkable person. My wife and I and our 6 month old daughter just spent 10 days at Niki's place, on a trip where we had to juggle both work and fun, and had no end of logistical needs and questions.... more

"Rustic lodging", when not describing a remote hunting cabin, is often a euphemism much like "cozy" in the real estate biz. While the town of Punta Allen is cute, and the boat trips and surrounding nature preserve are awesome, this lodging option is at best marginal.
