If you are in hurry to see really cool stuff in the Scotland, try something else - the castle is nothing exceptional. On the other hand, if you have little more time, the castle could be really nice place to step by. Exploring the castle/ruins can take about 45 minutes. More

A must have for any visitor to the highlands. A real delight to be able to climb and walk freely around a castle ruin, the views are amazing and the most important thing for me was the spiral staircase was still there and you could walk all the up to the roof space. toilet facilities and picnic tables were very... Huntly Castle is a very impressive ruin in a beautiful location next to the rivers Deveron and Bogie. It has a long history and was the spiritual home of The Gordon clan. Not only is it very interesting architecturally it is also in a lovely subject for photography and would make a beautiful back drop for photographs. There is an admission... More

There has been a castle on the site since the 12th century, but it was the Gordons in the 14th century that were closely associated with it. During the Civil War, George Gordon was executed in 1650 - this terminated their occupation. The castle is a spectacular ruin, built on 4 levels - you can still walk on stairways to... More

If in the area, do stop. It’s a beautiful ruin castle with masonry detail that is just amazing. I could envision the grandeur of the place. More

Like a lot of castles in the United Kingdom, what was once probably a great castle fallen to disrepair. This has more than a lot more standing than a lot of castles like Dudley in England. Huntly was originally known as Strathbogie Castle and has some old inscriptions that you can still see. This castle was mostly pilfered from by... More

Well preserved, and very interesting site. I liked the ability to be able to have a good look around, with no set route, with very little off limits. Definitely worth a visit More

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Huntly Castle and would recommend it if you are anywhere within a couple of hours drive. It is a fascinating old ruin and one of the more significant ruins in this part of Scotland. Although a ruin, the shell of the castle is quite well preserved with some unusual and notable details, especially carvings... More
