Bear parks in Japan are notoriously grim - cement prisons with rotting food, rusty bars and gawking crowds throwing peanuts.
Finally - one of the bear parks is trying to improve conditions ( and of course their business) - so Bear Mountain, at the foot of a ski slope in the center of Hokkiado is a welcome change.
