Amazing lagoon located on the very northwest tip of Crete! Take a car or scooter and drive up a dirt road for 30 minutes then a hike another 30 minutes to the lagoon, absolute heaven! We took a scooter and I would recommend one, cars have to go slower and be careful because the cliff edge is very near. The... More

I simply love this place. As we stayed at Crete before the boats starts sailing to Bálos we had the option to either walk or go by car. We did not want to put a car under such conditions so we chosed to walk. What a trip. Absolutely amazing views all the way. When reaching the top there is a... More

when you arrive by car (possibly drive a jip or old car) or by motos (in my opinion if you go by boat you don't enjoy the beautiful landscape) the street with stairs takes just some minutes walking; don't follow people (as we did) without knowing where are you going, or could be so much longer then it is (we... lovely castle on the island of gramvousa, it is worth the hill climb. the view and the waters are exotic. better to go by boat trip from which you might also dive into the clearest waters. it is a beautiful boat trip althought the tarrif is 22 euros (august 2011)!! very expensive but worth the money all the way. my... Nothing to say, just go! Six km of dirt road, that coasts the sea, drive you to the top of the peninsula. Park your car, you will be welcomed by local goats and after 30 min walking you reach a fantastic lagoon. Green, turquoise, blue, pink...and peace wait for you. I suppose, during the high season this place is probably... More

I did the one day tip to Gramvoussa/Balos. First, it is useful to know that the trip is 10 % cheaper booked on the net than at the port. The trip starts at 10.20 and comes back around 17.30, going first to Gramvoussa, stopping for 2 hours at an island where you can visit a Venetian fortress (that is quite... More

This is a must place if you're in Chania, just spend a morning to visit this unique spot. My personal recommendation is to go driving to this place, not use the boat services. You will an hour driving which the half of it in very bad road and then you need about 45 minutes walking down the steps to get... More

This was definitely one of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen (and I have seen a few...). Tricky drive over a pretty rough road - not for the fainthearted, followed by a walk of about 20 minutes down to the beach. We did a bit of snorkelling around the coast, where the water is pristine (a shame about... More
