Good for walkers and history buffs. River walk is very pretty and not too challenging. Great if you get nice weather. More

On our return journey home and blessed by the weather we decided to call in at Bolton Abbey for our first visit. We were impressed by the entry fee of £6 per car even though we were a couple this seemed very fair. The available estate and walks alongside the river were enjoyed to the full with calls in at the Cavendish... Its a lovely day out with the family if the weather is good. We went around spring time and it was dry and we had a lovely walk to Barden tower through the woods and then we stopped at the Strid for some refreshments. Lovely yorkshire scenery - good day out More

As we had neither good weather or lots of time, we went to the Abbey itself and to Barden Tower to walk -- both picturesque ruins set in beautiful countryside. I could... More
